The film sites are beginning to support the movie -- lrmonline.com/news/hugh-jackmans-the-greatest-showman-hits-a-box-office-record/$$$$ Success begets publicity success! Not going to chide these bloggers too much - but where were they when the critics were dissing the movie to the ground? Only a few like Variety's chief film critic Owen Gleiberman and a handful others were seeing what was positive with the movie! And the swelling in audience support shows that their championing the movie was based on well-grounded reasons! Jo

Not sure whether this came from a fan or by an artist commissioned by the marketing group -- but it is a great art piece illustrating the movie's message -- http://instagram.com/p/BdhAiViDFH4

LOL! There were a few early interviews with Pasek and Paul where they said they got intimidated everytime Hugh walked into the room. And how they always thought if the song they were writing would suit Hugh very well. This reminds me of a long-forgotten stagedoor anecdote at the Imperial ( TBFO). A fan finally reached Hugh among the crowd but she was so nervous she could not speak at all! Hugh said " Why are you nervous? It's only me!" Jo

Great to see the little ones being enraptured by the movie and the music! Maybe their generation will restore the movie musical genre to its rightful place once again And music unites! Jo

Now, guess who watched THE GREATEST SHOWMAN President Trump and lawmakers and some White House staff ... and the Chief of Staff found it fantastic... and everyone liked it! ew.com/movies/2018/01/06/donald-trump-the-greatest-showman/I wouldn't be surprised if it was President Trump himself who wanted to show it to the people there. After all, he was once an audience member for BACK ON BROADWAY...and was also referenced by Hugh in the show Jo

A sweet gesture from Hugh -- visiting a theater to express his Thanks! http://instagram.com/p/BdoFUyojh_h We all knew it -- the best thrill for him was the #1 ranking on Billboard 200 of the soundtrack album

I thought the boy was a good actor--but they really should have used contact lenses for him. He's clearly brown-eyed, while Hugh's are hazel. It threw me a bit the first time I saw the movie. I don't think it's a bad thing to have a film screening for Administration staff, Members of Congress and the Cabinet at the White House--no matter whether the occupant appeals to one or not. Regardless of political leanings, the more people who like TGS, the better. It only shows that its positive messages appeal to the better part of us all. (But I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the Ayatollah or Kim Jong Un to hold a screening.) Ellen

Ellen --
Thanks for recognizing the power of a film beautifully and heartfully made to appeal to everyone with its joyous messages and musical delivery.
The power of music and inspiring themes/stories unite everyone regardless of age, gender, beliefs, and backgrounds. The tweet from Tracey... who cannot walk and dance... touched me a lot because the movie has become her way of living something she could not physically do and which has given her immeasurable joy! If that is all that this movie can accomplish -- to inspire people and bring joy, then Hugh Jackman, Michael Gracey et al have already achieved so much.
If it has to be a choice, to make people feel that way is so much better than just winning an artistic award!

Good point re the lenses! And I do actually agree, with you on the second point....I just couldn't contain my sarcasm in the moment! I have a question about Caucasian eyes. Someone over there once told me that many babies are born with blue eyes ( obviously from Caucasian backgrounds) but that the color (of the iris) can change as the baby grows up. Have you heard about that? And what about Hugh's hair -- he was blonde up to when he was a young boy...but the color deepened into brown/brunette. Does this happen often? I thought being exposed to the Australian sun often would have lightened his hair even more?
Not trying to relate it to the young Phineas and P.T. portrayals -- it just came off the top of my head when I read your posts.

My son always had brown eyes and my daughter blue eyes, but her hair was very blond and darkened to auburn as she got older, just like her dad’s. Nancy

There was a link to the article from which information on the CHINA release date was obtained.
Thru a Google translation of the Chinese characters, this is the info now being given to Chinese audiences about the movie --
There is an update on the GGlobes nods and win. It also highlighted how well it clicked with audiences through the RT audience score of 90% ( versus the critics ratings then of 55%) and the CinemaScore of A.
It seems that what also helped secure the China release is the fact that a Chinese company also helped fund the film project via its investment in one of the direct movie funders.
