LOL - the excitement has made me dense I only realized now why the hashtag is called #TrailerTrapeze Quite an inventive way of introducing the characters within the setting of the movie, the circus ( and its high trapeze act)! Quite a few of the young people recognized how the related teasers were linked and thought it was way COOL! Not me -- it took a few return looks to understand the #TrailerTrapeze -LOL! The concept cannot be copied unless another movie relates to a high trapeze setting FOX Marketing -- you're off to a great start

Many comments on Instagram about the possible similarity with THE PRESTIGE. It must be the period look and the fact that as a magician, The Great Danton ( aka Angier) was a bit of a showman! Remember how he would even take a bow while he was injured underneath the stage. Some interesting comments -- *C. Bale and M. Caine should be in the movie! *Is this Prestige II ? *"I knew it - Angier wasn't died" Jo

But it looks like the Zendaya and Zac Brigade will bring in the troops -- hopefully direct to the cinemas come Christmas season-wise! Zendaya in particular is very popular -- so many social media reactions to seeing her swinging on the high trapeze! At least they are not dubbing Hugh " Uncle Hugh" Jo

Keala is going to bring the Broadway community into the adoring fold Other than natural talent ( musical theatre caliber) of the actors, the Music Department is supervised by well-known Broadway vocal coach and teacher, Liz Kaplan! I wonder what Will Swenson's role will be? Will he be recognizable? Will he be singing parts of a song solo? Jo

The first trailer is an excellent introduction to what the movie is all about - a narrative on how P.T.Barnum came to develop the business of mass entertainment for which be became universally known for. It tells you that the storyline focuses on the drama and successes that he experienced in his life ...and the people and the lives that he has touched. Even the song THIS IS ME gets another referential point -- that it is all about Phineas Taylor's rise to success ...and his impact on the people around him who helped him rise to fame and business success. Presumably, the song will be the signature theme for Barnum and the people he took along for the dazzling road to show business! I was half afraid that the first trailer would be mostly spectacle - to dazzle but never to inform! But FOX did come out with an emphasis on his beginnings and motivations, while teasing us that music and dance will be used to express itself in the telling of the life of one P.T.Barnum. It is also surprising that there was no emphasis on the circus, thus creating the impression that there is an underlying tale of the life of the key character. If they had simply dazzled with the circus highlights, people might think that it could very well be just like spending a few hours at a show involving pure spectacle. The trailer chose to go much deeper than that! Zac Efron gets second billing, so this probably means that the relationship of mentor and protégé will also have strong emphasis. If the trailer was a complete collaboration between Michael Gracey and the Fox Marketing group, then my respect for Gracey has added another favorable notch. He is bent on telling us the Barnum narrative first, rather than just emphasizing spectacle in telling that story! Ok- time to watch it again. I have notched only 3 instances at this point Jo

Jo, not six yet? Shocking. I also liked the trailer very much, how it includes striving for success after loss of job--something millions of people can relate to; giddily romantic snippets; the emphasis on the value of individualism; and of course a dollop of glamour and excitement in the world of "show business," a term P. T. Barnum is said to have coined. The music, most prominently "This is Me," conveys a hopeful, positive feeling without being preachy. I hope the film's themes and star power resonate with at least that segment of the public that doesn't care to revisit (and revisit and revisit) the next STAR WARS sequel. Ellen

I liked the trailer for all the reasons you mentioned, Jo. I was a bit afraid that I wouldn't like a period story with modern music (I disliked FINDING NEVERLAND for that reason), but it seems to work well in this trailer.

Tom Thumb is kinda cute - he looks almost like a child!
The ever-smiling Phineas Taylor is also kinda cute - he looks almost not like that gruff mutant!

Fox has uploaded it on YouTube, where most people go in search of information/trailer for a forthcoming movie -- Plus I know how to download from YouTube And you can convert it to FULL SCREEN - fantastic! Jo
