No matter the age... or the background, the songs of THE GREATEST SHOWMAN reach out to everyone. THIS IS ME seems to have personal resonance to these singers/dancers!

This school band(specializing in band music) from an island in the Philippines based on their performance ( check it out at 1'48") on the music of THE GREATEST SHOWMAN --
*The Greatest Show
*A Million Dreams
*Never Enough
*From Now On
*This Is Me
which won them second place in the school band competition.

Justin Paul visits with the OneVoice Children's Choir, as they sing COME ALIVE -- It looks like it is the ChoirMaster who is coming alive, a la Hugh Jackman

Here is the Official List of GRAMMY Nominations, per Billboard. The list from USA Today has been replaced with the Billboard listing because of some errors (especially as it refers to THE GREATEST SHOWMAN). www.billboard.com/articles/news/grammys/8489045/2019-grammy-nominees-full-list*Black Panther is a nominee for ALBUM OF THE YEAR, while THE GREATEST SHOWMAN is only a nominee in a limited field category? Shouldn't the basis be the album popularity ( TGS is double platinum while Panther is only single platinum certification), the role of the music in the movie, and the impact on culture ( across all ages, gender, and borders)? The Greatest Showman is still in the Top 20 on Billboard 200 ( staying 50 weeks on the charts). Where is Black Panther now? Isn't this more of pandering to the social justice sentiment of inclusivity rather than overall artistic merit? *Of course, they will reward one of their own - Lady Gaga ( she gets multiple nominations for the same material)! Someone called the movie A Star is Born as an extended Lady Gaga music video *This Is Me is nominated for Best Song for Visual Media. Lady Gaga's Shallow is all over the place *The soundtrack of The Greatest Showman is nominated for BEST COMPILATION SOUNDTRACK FOR VISUAL MEDIA. Not descriptive of the soundtrack for TGS because it is not a compilation of previously recorded songs but an original musical score to support the plotline and character development ( as in musical theatre) -- this is really originality, not as the word " compilation" suggests and what we hear in most movies these days. (Award to the artist(s) and/or ‘in studio’ producer(s) of a majority of the tracks on the album. In the absence of both, award to the one or two individuals proactively responsible for the concept and musical direction of the album and for the selection of artists, songs and producers, as applicable. Award also goes to appropriately credited music supervisor(s).)Odd that the soundtrack is classified under Compilation Soundtrack when it is actually the most qualified to join the classification Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media (" (Award to Composer(s) for an original score created specifically for, or as a companion to, a current legitimate motion picture, television show or series, video games or other visual media.") The real problem is there is no true classification for musical scores for original movie musicals. Most of the awards are given to background music. Because of the classication or mis-classification, Pasek and Paul's work will not be honored correctly. That is why The Greatest Showman is not nominated in the category. Also -- Is Hugh Jackman considered the principal artist ( who sings in the majority of the tracks). Excluding the 2 reprises, there are nine ( 9) original songs in TGS. Hugh sings as principal singer in 5 (The Greatest Show/A Million Dreams/Come Alive/TheOther Side/From Now On). With that reckoning, he sings in 56% of the number of full songs. With the 2 short reprises, he partly speaks in A Million Dreams Reprise, that would make it 6 of 11 ( or 54.6%). Hope it is not the amount of time ( in minutes and seconds) used by the artist in delivering his performance So, there is a chance that he might be a co-winner if THE GREATEST SHOWMAN wins for Best Compilation Soundtrack. This is an awkward classification because it does not really recognize the original composers, and in this case Pasek and Paul! I have a feeling that the mis-classification is due to a desire to award 2 favorites, one for each category ( hope TGS is one of those favorites) *No nomination either for best Pop Duo/Group Performance! Is it not Pop (derived from "popular music") enough -- what an irony when the entire range of songs are sung all over the world!. The Greatest Show official audio alone has 95 million hits on YouTube...and if I am not mistaken has also reached Platinum status ( together with This Is Me). That song electrifies people wherever it is heard! *Bah Sorry for the cynical tone -- but THE GREATEST SHOWMAN has been snubbed so often that one feels that some people are going out of their way to put it down But let's all hope that The Greatest Showman and Hugh Jackman win in the category of Best Compilation Soundtrack! A Grammy is a Grammy ( needed to complete an EGOT) Jo

And a Best Pop Duo nomination should have gone to HJ and Zac Efron for "The Other Side." There, I've said it.

For one, THE GREATEST SHOWMAN soundtrack was released on December 8, 2017.And maybe more importantly, its music is not modern rock but more of modern musical theatre. It would have been odd-looking in that list.

But the songs in ASIB probably fit the pop/rock songs category of the other albums in that Rolling Stones list - as the people who chose the list probably preferred a certain type of music category. Or maybe they do like Lady Gaga's music as more from that type of music... Also, The Greatest Showman's musical score was meant to advance/support the storyline and characterizations … but ASIB is classified as a dramatic movie with songs ( that was why it landed in the Drama category of the GGlobes, not in the musicals group).
Of course the distinctions now in the theatre are also becoming slightly blurred, as biographical music shows like the Springsteen show ( whose type of music is not musical theatre in a sense) are starting to fill in the theatres on Broadway.
Maybe signs of the times! Although those who prefer the type of songs that Hugh favor are still very much in vogue if we are to judge the popularity ( apart from the personal favorite factor of the performer) of his music tour!
Also, the Reimagined album had some modern rock artists in the covers but they still basically hewed to the style of the original soundtrack. What is even more surprising is how the soundtrack appealed to the kids ( from toddlers up!) -- one would think that they would prefer to sing and dance to modern rock music -- but the tweets speak strongly of the preference for TGS music.
Billboard 200 has been a home of TGS for sometime now ( some 50 weeks and Double Platinum for the album itself)... as well as the UK Official Charts. Part of it is the announcement of the tour...and maybe because the movie is bound to become a holiday classic as well.
Just some thoughts.
