Everyone Else: Well it's called The Greatest Showman not The Greatest Circus.
Me: I get that Barnum, as the main character, would have the most screen time but that does not mean the troupe had to barely be in it. They could've cut Zac and Zendaya's sub-plot so they could've had

The main theme of the movie is the establishment of mass entertainment (aka showbiz), thus impresario Barnum forming a group of unusual performers to start the beginning of a circus. Thus, this is the greatest show 👏

TGS was the leggiest movie at the box office since Titanic.Of the cast, only HughJackman &KealaSettle came from live entertainment (Broadway). But their cast recording became the bestselling album of 2018 worldwide ( beating all other pop albums). HJ won a Grammy as lead singer.

ThisIsMe became a WinterOlympics theme song ...&everyone who ever felt shunned for his/her uniqueness. Oscar nod&GGlobe win for BestSong. MillionDreams was graduation song for every school in the world. NeverEnough was every song diva's favorite. Boys tried to copy TheOtherSide.

RewriteTheStars was for young lovers...Everyone tried to copy(but couldn't) copy the choreography of FromNowOn...and try to run faster than HJ! ComeAlive was the clarion call for showbiz!
Even the forgotten song(Tightrope) had its fans.

As for Hugh Jackman - a new fanbase emerged! All those on the distaff side who had shunned Wolverine finally discovered him. And can you imagine all the YTube performances of kids of TheGreatestShow - some as young as toddlers & young boys complete with red coat, tophat & cane!

More than just a movie, more than just a songlist... TGS was a cultural phenomenon!
To this date - there are summer outdoor screenings of the film.
Last word- NYTimes could not figure out its secret: they ran a survey from readers. They all came back & said : it brought them joy!

Someone who has just discovered THE GREATEST SHOWMAN discovered its wondrous choreography.

Many usually refer only to the appeal of the songlist...but there is also much to praise in the groundbreaking dance routines in this movie.

And normally you see people talk about chemistry between male & female leads but the platonic chemistry between Zac Efron and Hugh Jackman is magic they make the perfect mentor/mentee combo

It was a much more credible performance partnership!

I find the link-up much better than the Eddie-the-Eagle relationship between Eddie & Bronson Peary ( which rung false sometimes).
