Legendary actor Hugh Jackman says he thought Jimmy Kimmel did a really good job as host of the Oscars, in what was a very difficult year to do it.

Jackman told WOR’s “Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning” it was a complicated show to host because of the past year in politics and everything surrounding the “Me Too” movement.

“It was a tough job and I thought he did really well. I thought he did really well last year,” Jackman said.

Jackman starred in “The Greatest Showman,” which featured the Oscar nominated song “This Is Me.” The song was performed by Keala Settle at the show, with Jackman remembering her audition for the movie.

“She was so good, the head of the studio lept out of his chair, ran over to her mid-performance and hugged her and just said, ‘You just booked your first major motion picture,’ and there she was last night at the Oscars,” Jackman said.

Actor Hugh Jackman and director Jason Reitman, of the new film "The Front Runner"; Candice Bergen, Faith Ford, Joe Regalbuto and Grant Shaud of the series "Murphy Brown," and David Yazbek, the Tony Award-winning composer of Broadway's "The Band's Visit," have been named featured guests for "An Evening With CBS Sunday Morning Live," an immersive event to be held at The Town Hall in New York City on Oct. 1 at 8:00 p.m.

Presented by Chubb, the 90-minute ticketed event will capture the essence of "CBS Sunday Morning" in an informative, engaging theater setting, hosted by Jane Pauley and featuring the correspondents of the #1 Sunday morning news program, in conversation with top newsmakers from the worlds of entertainment, fashion, the arts, science, technology, politics and culture.

Jackman and Reitman will be on hand to discuss their new drama, "The Front Runner," which follows the rise and fall of former Sen. Hugh Jackman: “Pretty Extraordinary” Spending Time with Gary Hart

Actor Hugh Jackman says he spent three days with 1988 presidential candidate Gary Hart in preparation for the new movie “The Front Runner.”

“It was pretty extraordinary. He’s an amazing man,” Jackman told WOR’s “Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning.”
Jackman said Hart picked him up at the airport and they spent time together at his Colorado home. Jackman described Hart as “unbelievably generous and warm.”

Hart was forced out of the presidential race because of allegations of an extramarital affair.
“His view of politics, and certainly those events, it should be a footnote - not necessarily something that defines his career,” Jackman said.

At one point, Hart was considered the next president of the United States. Instead, Jackman said he caught up in a brand new media dynamic where the events were unfolding in real time.

“It was history turning. In 1987 we had CNN, you had 24 hour news cycle. Things were shifting as you guys remember with the press and that was sort of the first moment,” Jackman said.

We might not get THE VIEW today in Southern Cal because of massive fire flare-ups coverage. Right now the smoke along the coast looks like 9/11. The high winds are feeding the flames. I'm not near the fires, but so many people are losing their homes. It breaks your heart to see people trying to save horses. God bless our fire-fighters.

Glad you’re ok, Kathy. My son in Northern California and my daughter in Southern California are thankfully ok but they tell me the air smells awful, forcing them to stay indoors as much as possible. The devastation looks mind-boggling. I hope they finally get these fires under control.

On a much lighter note, I’m enjoying HJ’s media blitz on behalf of TFR. I hope it pays off.
