I'm an international fan, I live in Rome and for me it's impossible to move from home and travel abroad, otherwise I would have opted for the concert in Paris or in Zurich. Unfortunately, I am a caregiver, my elderly parents are both seriously disabled, they can not be left alone, there is no one who can replace me, not even for one day. He will never do concerts here in Italy, because in my country the kind of shows he does, are considered entertainment for an audience formed by nostalgic old people, therefore, no hope for me. Bye, I'm going back to slamming my head against the wall...

It looks like the Presale for Tampa will be Wednesday December 5 at 10:00am. My question is are there only specific Amex cards that will be accepted for the Presale? I can't find that info on Ticketmaster. I have emailed them but no response yet.

Sad to say that things seem to be a bit disorganized in the ticket-selling.

In some cases, it is not only TM which is the official seller. They may have also designated AXS ( it is a major company that handles ticket selling for concerts and large arena shows - they are the official sellers at the London O2 Arena which is larger than Madison Sq Garden). Also, It seems Amex may not always be the card with a tie-in on presales.

Is there any chance of calling, instead of emails ( I tried to do that with one ticket-seller - I was told they can only get back to me maybe in 10 days)? That may solve some of the issues.

The problem fans are encountering is that this is simultaneous selling of tickets in many places in the USA and Europe - and since Hugh is a popular film star (esp so with The Greatest Showman and Wolverine movies), maybe we should expect that it might be chaotic and nerve-wracking on the first days of sales. Unlike when we are just booking for one theatre on Broadway with one ticket seller.

Lol - how petty some political naysayers are sounding now in trying to convince people not to see the show


People are simply losing their minds ( exaggeration, of course ) in thinking of the right strategy to be first in line when "Ticketmaster/Axs/whichever official ticket sellers are designated" open their online doors for the Presale!

It used to be that people were fighting to get a Row AA -- now, it is simply to be able to get into the arena

How often have you walked the CHANNEL GARDENS at Rock Center Plaza?

I have done it countless times over the years -- but never have I imagined that Hugh Jackman will perform there ( and on a cold day at the onset of winter) -- singing songs from his passion project movie musicals ( LesMis is equally important to him because he said that was the very first film project that he worked so hard to get into!)... Btw, there is a great view of the Channel Gardens from across Fifth Avenue - high up from the coffee shop on the top floor at Saks 5th. You can even discover that on top the French Building and the British Building ( the two buildings that border the Channel Gardens - hence the reference to the English Channel) are secret gardens on the cement rooftops.

As long as your show is sold by Ticketmaster, they always accept AMEX for the pre-sales. Any kind - green, gold, black, whatever. If by chance you are asked for an AMEX code, it is the 10-digit customer service number on the back of your card. I have done 4 pre-sales for Paul McCartney, but I was buying VIP tickets and they never asked for a code. For Hugh I am just going for the best ($225) tickets available.

I found that out too late. ☹️ Also, didn’t receive presale code until 11:19 am email! I hate the way Ticketmaster works now! I got online at exactly 10 am and was put in a “waiting room” with 2000+ people ahead of me. Managed to get reasonable tickets after about 10 minutes without a code. The VIP ones needed code THEMAN. They cost $300-400+ each!

So my husband of 38 years is hereby forgiven for every wrong he has ever done or ever will do.   I was miserable because we have family commitments the two dates Hugh will be at MSG. (We live in NJ).  While I was teaching today, he procured and surprised me with 11th row floor seats in Philly!  My husband is now officially my SECOND favorite man.     LOL!!

Hugh Jackman in ‘The Greatest Showman’: the actor now has an old-fashioned starriness that gives him a wide appeal, from seven-year-old kids to 50-year-old superhero-worshipping dads

When you’re seven years old, the world comes down to the most simple of needs. Food. Toys. The hope that one day you’ll meet Hugh Jackman.


“Will I ever meet the Greatest Showman?” my daughter asked me recently while we cleaned up the kitchen. With the patience of a father keen to walk a line between amusement, wisdom and deep concern not to burst her bubble, I put down the dishcloth, dropped to her eye level and calmly told her what she needed to hear.

“Nah.”

Well, as any seven-year-old fan of The Greatest Showman will tell you, never give up on the power of your imagination. Never let anyone tell you something isn’t possible. And never listen to your father.
Because Hugh Jackman is coming to town.


Hugh Jackman is coming to lots of towns, as it happens. He’s embarking on a world tour. The production goes by the earnest, almost parodic title “The Man. The Music. The Show.” Jackman promises he’ll sing, dance, tell stories. Keala Settle will blast out This Is Me. It could easily be the kind of news to make a cynic snort and a parent roll their eyes – a sort of Sing-a-Long experience crossed with Springsteen on Broadway and Frozen on Ice. An experience you hope the other parent will do escort duty for.


So, why did I immediately wonder about getting tickets? Not just for my daughter. For me?

Moviegoer demographics

Because somewhere in a Hollywood office, someone is tracing a messy chart of moviegoer demographics.

One line represents seven-year-olds who believe, as Jackman himself says, that only “your imagination is your limit”.
I have to believe another line represents middle-aged men who like a superhero film big on shish-kebabed baddies, midlife angst, and which inspires the false hope that they too can have rocking dad-abs like Jackman manages to have at the age of 50. Men who found something recognisable in Jackman’s supposedly final turn as the now-exhausted, beaten-down, alcoholic superhero in Logan. Men who spend their time washing dishes while distracted by the question, “Will I ever meet Wolverine?”


Right where the two lines meet is Jackman. Top-hatted and smiling enthusiastically or vein-popping and growling ominously, depending on your preference.


He is currently playing fallen politician Gary Hart in The Front Runner, but its US box office performance has not been good, its reviews middling. It’s a return to a certain equilibrium, perhaps, after the double whammy of Logan and The Greatest Showman – both released in 2017 – that gave him good reason to go on a world lap of honour of sorts.

Logan rewards re-watching. (Not by seven-year-olds, of course. No matter how much they like superheroes.) It is Johnny Cash’s Hurt if someone thought that video just needed a dash of head-skewering.

An expert conclusion of an often wonky, multi-movie character arc, Logan was largely loved by critics, who saw it as a watershed in a tired genre. It resonated with an audience who had matured with, and grown weary of, the tropes of the superhero movie. It brought Wolverine to a peak and walked away at the right time (hopefully). And it did it all with excellent, brutal action set-pieces.



Retrospective shadow

Jackman is excellent as the declawed Wolverine, finding, in his ninth portrayal of the character, such new depth that it casts a retrospective shadow over the previous eight.

From the opening frame he convinces us of the exhaustion weighing down every one of Wolverine’s adamantium-coated bones. Is there any other example of a lead character’s movie-long struggle just to stay awake being so compelling?

It contrasted so much with the heel-clicking, cane-thumping enthusiasm of his PT Barnum in The Greatest Showman, which followed only a few months later. Enough has been written about that movie’s critic-defying success. Suffice to say that, however flawed Jackman’s “passion project” is, every line and scene, every hook and lyric is undeniably efficient in tapping into themes of empowerment, imagination, acceptance, never letting go of your dreams, and sticking it to snooty critics who will learn to lighten up by the end.


As happens whenever a musical seems to do something decent at the box office, there was a glut of pieces asking whether the public was looking for something upbeat in troubled times. As if times are ever anything but troubled. Or as if seven-year-olds care about such things. They care only about watching it again. And listening to the songs again. And singing them again. And again. And again. And . . .


Fresh approach

You could equally argue that Logan was a success not just because of its fresh approach to the material but because it reflected our jaded, cynical times. And maybe Jackman did manage to hit on the greatest year in his career by fortuitously reflecting the mood from two separate angles. Song and dance. Anger and exhaustion.


Whatever the answer, Dublin’s 3Arena will get a night out of it next May. And the audience will not be narrowed to the two demographics, because Jackman now has an old-fashioned starriness that gives him a wide appeal. What’s more, that starriness looks a little brighter when so many others are tainted by scandal or collapse into weirdness.


But watch out in particular for kids and their dads at the show. And know there will be some who will tap along to songs, enjoy the mood and hope against hope that, at the climax of the closing number, Hugh Jackman will hold the high note, open his arms wide . . . and skewer a couple of dancers with his adamantium claws. Just for old time’s sake.

In a sense, Wolverine fans have longer precious memories of Hugh Jackman, the actor, than most musicals fans do! And they have kept faith since this iconic role was a Jackman commitment for 17 years.

If you're from NYC/tri-state or travelling to NYC at that time --

they have added a matinee (1:00 pm) at MSG on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

International fans can purchase tickets from the other options ( Not Presale because that is limited to locals and Chase Preferred Card) indicated on the Ticketmaster site.

Btw, sometimes TM sends an erroneous message and tells you that your ticket choice has been picked up by someone ahead of you - try again! The ticket may still be available, although navigating ticket sites now can be a tiresome task! But wonderful if you get your ticket choice

For sale at face value: 2 Atlanta tickets for $343.26. (Includes TM fees) Section 222, Row B, Seats 15/16. Those seats are closer to the stage than seats 1/2. Sec. 222 is mid-arena on stage right.

This is a solid theory. I’ve just genuinely never given him a second thought and all around me are people actively being Hugh Jackman fans. It’s like when people go to Lenny Kravitz concerts. SHOW YOURSELVES, KRAVITZ FANS
