This is so moving, as a first taste of the dramatic tale behind Les Miserables! It sends a message that we will see all the characters unfolding with their personal and collective stories, but that it will be an epic storytelling.

If the kind of performance that we see from Anne bodes well for the rest of the central characters, then this is worth all the waiting ( from the first time we ever saw the show or read the novel)!

From what has been shown, it looks like Jean Valjean is going to be treading a very difficult path to full redemption! Hope Hugh finds the challenge all that he ever wanted as a trained actor!

They are still filming...so what we are seeing is raw footage that will still have to undergo post-production! I can imagine how spectacular the final product will be! It is hard to believe that film can still improve on such a wonderful show onstage - but it looks like we will see that happen in 6-7 months' time!

I do prefer this one -- I do not know if it's because this one is on HD but now I can even see a tiny Valjean walking uphill in the first scene.

Also, this downloads so much better than the Bing.com copy.

It is so emotional. I almost started crying when her voice broke down before the "hell I am living in". January can´t come soon enough (the premiere here was moved til 31st January )

Beautifully done teaser-trailer. I have a feeling a longer version may be down the road a few months, which I hope will feature Hugh a bit more. Anne sounds true to her character. I'm hoping this will quiet the naysayers.

I know I'm always easily moved to tears (ask my family!) but this trailer is a two hankie one! Gawd knows what I'm going to be like hearing Mr J. sing! It looks fantastic, well done to all concerned!

The trailer just appeared on the Channel 5 morning news here in L.A. The news anchors then had a brief discussion of how great it was that Hooper had the actors sing live on set, and that the film would open in December.

I've got a strong feeling I should go see it alone the first time I see it. Watching this trailer, I know I will most certainly be mush in the theater. :'( All of them have poured themselves into these roles to pull off, what appears in this teaser, a masterpiece. Many of the Oscar prediction sites for next year are already predicting Hugh and Anne up for Best Actor/Actress. Won't that be something if our Hugh gets nominated?! ;D

I think it was a very smart move by director Hooper to base the very first trailer on the most famous song. So many people around the world are familiar with it (since Susan Boyle won "Britain's Got Talent") even if they are not fans of musicals or have never heard of Les Mis. And Anne Hathaway's singing may be a heads-up for many others (like Princess Diary or Batman-movie fans) who are not aware she's talented in this way also. This trailer is bound to send shock waves in many different directions... as it appears it already is doing!! So glad to see excellence in every aspect...
