Hi all!! Brand new member here, my full name is Eveline and I'm 21 years old. I've been on other forums before though, but those were Australian forums about Australian series, films, actors and theatre rather than about 1 actor in particular. Hugh Jackman has always been one of my favorites, I've seen every single episode and movie enlisted on IMDb, but Australia is still my all-time favorite movie. I'm a bit sad that I was too young to go and see The Boy From Oz, plus the fact that I live in Europe, Belgium to be more precise which isn't a great location if you want to see Hugh Jackman perform live on stage. haha Would've loved to have seen the musicals he did live on stage! Still hoping I get to see him one day. Really looking forward to discovering everything on this board!

Sometimes it's very active and other times, between movies or other performances, it's quiet. One tip is on the bottom of the main Ozalots page there's a link "Recent Posts" which is the easiest way to catch up on what's been posted since your last visit. There is also an RSS feed if that works for you. Sue

Do you prefer Eve or Eveline? In any case, welcome! New blood is always a welcome addition. There are loads of online clips and other sources of Hugh in THE BOY FROM OZ, so I wish you happy viewing, too.

Oh you can call me whatever you want! haha Aussies always seem to shorten my name to "Eve", Aussies have a love-affair with nicknames apparently, hence my nickname on this board... In Belgium they don't use Eve, they always call me by my full name. So I'm used to hearing/reading both, so I'll leave that up to you. And thanks for the welcome, Ellen! I'm already loving this site and its members.

Hi, Eve I am from your former side of the world ( Australasia), the Philippines, and would like to say Hello to another Aussie on our forum. Like Aussies, we also like to shorten names...but the shorter name was given to me when I was studying in the US - Jo. I'm actually called Josie at home, short for Josefina A few of us were lucky to have visited Australia when Hugh did the arena tour - and I was able to visit Sydney. Other than Hugh's performances ( plural!), I did see some of the country's attractions in Sydney ( around Sydney, Sydney Harbour, some great food at Darling Harbour, Bondi, the Opera House to see Anthony Warlow, even rode the monorail around the city, and of course discovered the huge flea market by the Entertainment Center). It was huge crowds who saw the show ... and very enthusiastic ( Hugh: "I've never been so mauled in my life" - LOL! -- that was when he went around the audience during a part of the show)...but most of all, I met a few Aussie friends for the first time from another forum (Michael Ball) who were all so gracious and enjoyed the Hugh show as much as I did!... So, welcome! PS: Loved AUSTRALIA, too - and I joined a forum by two Aussies who were great Baz Luhrmann fans, which made the wait for the movie even more exciting. Jo

Hi Jo! Great to meet you as well! I've never been to Australia myself unfortunately, but it has been on my bucket list since I was just a kid. The plan is to get there into the coming years, I want to get there before I turn 30. But I myself have lived in Belgium (Western Europe) all my life, I'm just fortunate to know a lot of Aussies. :p But all the things you mentioned are the things I want to see in Sydney as well. It's so awesome you got to see the Arena tour several times...oh how I loved to have seen that! Thanks for the welcome all, you're all so kind!

Oops, I thought you were an Aussie who migrated to Belgium But your enthusiasm sounds very much like an Aussie's way! PS: If you are a Formula One racing fan -- I do watch every race on your famous Spa-Franchorchamps circuit on worldwide TV! Jo

hahaha no worries! I wish I could say that was the case! But since I interact with them a lot, almost every day, I picked a lot of Aussie things up. So you might see some Aussie slang pop up here and there. And I tend to act like an Aussie as well. haha Eveline

Hi, Eveline, and welcome to the Forum! You'll find it's quite an INTERNATIONAL forum... just like Hugh's appeal! I welcome you from just "south of the border" (the US border, that is) in Mexico. So... ¡BIENVENIDA, Y MUCHO GUSTO EN CONOCERTE! Alma

Hi all! I am new and just want to say thanks...it is so nice to know there are folks out there who, like me, appreciate Hugh as a performer, family man, humanitarian, charmer and of course physical specimen!I come a little late to the game although he was always on the edge on my radar as that guy with the funny hair and the one making waves in tbfo. And then 11/19/11 happened. My daughter got tkts for us to see BOB and an obsession was born! Jo, I especially want to thank you for your posting consistency. Look forward to it every day!

Hi Hughmanity ( or do we call you by another name?) -- Welcome! Thanks for the kind words! So it was Back on Broadway which solidified your admiration for Hugh ...Happily, that show included a cheeky portion devoted to The Boy from Oz - which show was what initially brought many of us together -- Ozalots referred to theater fans who saw (The Boy from) Oz a lot! Hope you can join us regularly in the discussions here? Are you also planning to see THE RIVER? It is not musical theatre but another branch of the performing arts that Hugh performs exceedingly well, too. A Steady Rain is one of my favorites in his body of work. Jo

Thanks for your reply and welcome, Jo! I will definitely be seeing The River. Do you have any thoughts on what the best seating is? And is it better to go in previews or later in run? Any tips you can give would be appreciated!

Unless there are time constraints, I think that for most theatre fans, it is likely preferable to see a show after it officially opens, as there might be changes during previews which will not be "frozen" until a day or so before official opening date ( that would be November 16 for THE RIVER). Personally, I prefer to see a show ( musical or play) a month or so after it opens because the actors and the rest of the staging would have settled in by then. Except during TONY time, when you probably get the best performances from the nominated shows a week or so before the TONYs. But if you live in the area -- it would be fun to see the show during previews, during the run, and at closing date! I have to travel halfway across the world to get to NYC...so I probably have to squeeze in as many as I could of shows during the short span of time I will be there. Best seat -- always debatable for theatre fans! Many would prefer to be seated a few rows further from the stage, especially if the stage is too high. Some would even prefer to sit as far as front mezzanine, especially for musicals so one can have a more panoramic view, including the view of the dancing feet! But if one is particularly interested in the lead or another actor, one may want to see it on the front row ( despite any possible inconveniences) or close to it. Sometimes seats from neither of the above choices can also yield comfortable viewing ( in my case, the first box for Book of Mormon and higher up the Vvian Beaumont ampitheatre for War Horse gave excellent sightlines including the charge of the horse puppets). I do have another reason for choosing front or close to the front row -- as I am of a dainty size, I cannot see too well if the people in front are tall or have bouffant hairstyles. If in a regular Broadway house ( not like the CITS which is a theatre in the round and has ampitheatre seating), an aisle seat on either left or right orchestra, even if further down the hall, may give fairly excellent sightlines. One other consideration -- as this is a drama ( not a musical), it might be best to see facial expressions and body language of the actors as close as possible ( which of course is key to the staging, especially for a sparse set) -- so maybe seats very near the stage are desirable for excellent viewing. How did it fare for Hugh fans on Broadway -- *THE BOY FROM OZ -- the front row, ROW AA, became the most desirable seats...and priced at regular prices ( premium was right behind it)! *A STEADY RAIN -- front or second row or thereabouts, especially on the right side, facing the stage *BACK ON BROADWAY -- front and box -- the seats where he serenaded a lucky lady audience member and the box where he opened the second act! For THE RIVER -- there is "riverbank" ( AA and BB) which are supposed to be almost or actually part of the set? But it is wooden bench seating (nor sure if padded or just supplied with cushions) but you are supposed to be able to see the action close by. Not sure if we are supposed to dress in camouflage ( like in deep green colors to be able to look like the weeds or the low-hanging branch or even like river stones - LOL!) ...Then there are the premium seats ( which happily are not tied in to "dynamic pricing" introduced by the Shubert theatres) which starts on Row A ... and there are the regular priced-seat which starts at Row C in some instances ( although in the center section, I think Row E is still supposed to be premium).... To tell you the truth -- I am not sure how they distinguish between premium and regular pricing. Another consideration -- do you want to sit on the side rows or the center section?... One thing, though, CIRCLE IN THE SQUARE is a small and intimate theatre ( seats only about half of those of regular Broadway houses for musicals) and because it is ampitheatre seating, supposedly there is no bad seat in the house. Good luck with your choice of date and seating Jo

Jo. Thank you so much for responding so extensively I'm sorry I didn't thank you earlier but I teach and we had back to school night today. Anyway I do appreciate it. I saw Godspell at CITS and remember all the seats seemed good but for this I think it will be a real thrill to be up close. My husband works around the corner from CITS so I'll be sending him off to the box office! Thanks again! !

Hi guys! I just wanna say a quick hello and introduce myself. My name is Isabelle and I've always been a fan of Hughs but recently I've been a little obsessed with him and Deb. I'm just basically in awe by how they live their lives and what an amazing person Hugh is. I honestly came to the conclusion that he is the definition of a perfect man. Lol Anyways, I'm so glad I found this board! Looking forward to talking to y'all.
