Hello everyone, I'm Nina, Hugh fan since 2003, I joined this forum just to say thank to Jo, I don't know who you are but you're doing an awesome job here and all by yourself, without you OZalot would have been inactive. Unfortunately, not all fans of Hugh in the world can afford to go to Broadway, most of them follow especially his film career and aren't musicals "aficionados" so, your constant updates are a valuable source of selected informations that summarize in a practical press release available at a single website. Thank you.

Thanks for the kind words, Nina  But you can always join in the conversation as many points of view will give us a more rounded impression of Hugh and his career. Some of our friends here do that as well! And if you eventually discover theatre, not necessarily on Broadway, but maybe near where you live, our Ellen ( Mamaleh) does a yeoman's job of giving us her succinct impressions of the many shows she has seen. Welcome! PS: The singular characteristic that makes Hugh excel among his peers is his versatility - his ability to tackle roles ( even if only in movies) which run through many genres -- action/drama/comedy/sci-fi/fantasy...and even musicals  We admired him tremendously in LES MISERABLES for his dramatic and musical portrayal...and now we are looking forward to another of his passion projects, a musical biopic called THE GREATEST SHOWMAN ON EARTH. But of course we are all very excited ( and sad) to see him say farewell to Wolverine in LOGAN, too! Jo |

We also loved LOGAN! And we all *hart* Hugh  In case you haven't noticed this board is all about Hugh as a performer in all manner of genres We love him both as a film actor and a theatre thespian! The Board is an offshoot of an official message board of his first Broadway appearance called THE BOY FROM OZ ( of which we still have a special section), which ran through the years until a few years ago when this new one was created. The new board was still named for the OZALOTS ( meaning having seen the show The Boy from OZ - A - LOT), a name that Hugh fondly remembers as his theatre fans. But it has become more of a board which has cheered for all his film and theatrical portrayals! Re LOGAN -- I never thought I would get teary-eyed over a story of Wolverine -- but the dramatic layer that was a strong focus in the movie set it apart from his other XMen films  So - we continue... as we follow him in what may be the second stage of his career, post-Wolverine! Almost but not quite -- I was Girl From Rio around when Boy From Oz was on Broadway, but I haven't been here in so long that I'd forgotten my password. The algo that rules this part of the universe didn't recognize my request to adopt a new password, so I just altered my screen name and got in. I noticed on the Members List that Girl From Rio is still included, so I guess I have a dual identity. |

Hi Zaneta/Jany When I saw your full name, I had wondered if you were named after one of the young characters in The Music Man. She is the daughter of the controversial Town Mayor and she is called Zaneeta ( double"e"). But welcome to our forum -- we talk about the two special "boys from oz" ( Hugh and Peter Allen). Mostly about Hugh and his film and stage projects, his advocacies, a bit of his family life that he shares ( and sometimes the paps) with the public. You mention The Greatest Showman - we all love that musical, too. It took Hugh 8 years to get it done. It actually started when the Oscars producer for the 2009 Oscars ( which Hugh hosted) Lawrence Mark saw Hugh in rehearsal. He and the other co-producer ( Bill Condon) suggested to him that he could star in a Barnum ( of the famous Barnum&Bailey Circus & known impresario) musical. That was 2009! The movie was released in 2017. We do have a lot of threads on the movie, including its pre-development. Hugh is due for another musical - but it is going to be on Broadway - The Music Man, which will open for previews on Dec 20, 2021 after a 2-year pandemic delay. Zaneta/Jany -- If you are wondering where we got the name OZALOTs -- This board is an offshoot of the official message board for Hugh's first Broadway show - The Boy From Oz. When it finally closed, our kind Administrator Valerie decided to open this new forum site named after the two "Boys" from "Oz" ( Australia), Hugh Jackman and Peter Allen ( the Australian entertainer who became famous in America) and was the subject of the musical biopic Broadway production The Boy From Oz. While still on the previous board, the Administrator then decided to open a contest to name the board. The winning one was Ozalot. Presumably derived from seeing the show "Oz-a-lot", which many of us actually did  ... Hugh knows the group as his New York/Other Places theatre group One Ozalot kindly shared this message from Hugh which he wrote after the yearlong run of The Boy From Oz was completed.  Jo |
