Good or bad news ;D ;D collider.com/the-wolverine-poster-bus-shelter/----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fox Will Have to Replace 50% of Their Outdoor Campaign for THE WOLVERINE Due to Theftby Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub Posted: April 21st, 2013 at 11:36 am It’s hard to create a cool piece of art. But whoever designed The Wolverine poster featuring a silhouette of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine with his claws unsheathed knocked it out of the park. It’s definitely one of the best posters I’ve seen in a long time and it looks like most of you agree with me. While at the Fox presentation at CinemaCon, I was to talking to a few of their executives and I mentioned how much I loved the poster. I found out Tony Sella, Fox’s Chief Creative Officer, came up with the Sumi Ink concept and it’s being stolen on a daily basis all over the country. The exec’s told me they’ll need to replace over 50% of the bus shelters. I think while it’s a good problem to have, it’s still an issue, because they paid for an ad buy and they want to make sure people see the poster. Hit the jump the poster. The Wolverine also stars Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Brian Tee, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto and Svetlana Khodchenkova. The Wolverine opens on July 26th.

There is a longer and more interesting trailer for the Japanese market out there www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3YSOR63MuI&feature=youtu.beInterestingly, the movie is called SAMURAI! Hugh will likely start promoting the movie after completing filming of Days of Future Past -- he doesn't even have to change moods and characters ;D Jo

It would be very cool if he did publicity for the movie with his muttonchops still grown out. Sort of 'in character'. Although, since he's made it well known he doesn't care for them personally, I doubt he will. Just my own personal fantasy. - Alicia

Cool idea, Alicia ;D...I bet the fanboys will be impressed. Of course, they still hanker for his classic comic book costume - LOL! As for the ladies -- we are so used to seeing him with facial hair that it almost doesn't matter Jo

If there should be a question about a stage, then, for me, most likely about his one man show and any chance of bringing it to London.

From what I've seen of these Q&As I doubt that any stage questions will be gotten to. He'll have thousands of questions about The Wolverine and since that is what he's promoting I think he'll stick to that. The only exception might be a question about X-Men: Days of Future Past since it's the same character one may slip through. Sue

Were you able to monitor/watch the Twitter Q&A? It was held for about an hour and 25 minutes and Hugh fielded 11 questions with video replies. twitter.com/RealHughJackman/with_repliesHe chose excellent questions to reply to -- insightful, sensible, and interesting. And of course Hugh's replies were candid, articulate and with a twinkle in his eyes - as always! Hey, I knew what he would answer to one question even before he gave his response - it was the Bullet Train reply . Jo

Btw, we get a glimpse of the facial hair look for DAYS OF FUTURE PAST because he chose to give video replies to the Q&A. Definitely different from Prisoners and Les Miserables - I need to recheck how it compares to The Wolverine. One film site has been asking whether we will see the silver wings ( silver hair on his temples) on Wolverine for the future timeline, as illustrated on the cover page of the XMEN:DAYS OF FUTURE PAST comic book series.

It's good that they have summed up all the responses in one video ( and Fox has even indicated its proprietorial rights over the clips at the end) -- but I kinda like waiting for the selection of each question and then waiting as to how he would reply to them. A film site has implied that this was all a setup and that the questions were all pre-selected or even internally put together ( so there would be no controversial ones) and the video responses already prepared before the online viewing -- if he had watched the one and a half hour process, he would not be saying that, as some responses took a longer time to give than the others ( and even the selection of the particular query). I have been in a chat before ( with a Formula One racer) and we were all too excited especially when one's question was selected -- the atmosphere with the Hugh Q&A was similar albeit it was much slower in pace. He even chose a question from SuperHeroHype and one other tweeter said he was so excited when his question was picked. I am sure there were a lot of fanboyish questions about the storyline and characters -- but Hugh chose the more sensible and insightful questions from an overall demographics point of view.
The movie will need a lot of publicity -- it is facing such massive competition for this summer blockbuster season! IronMan 3, Man of Steel,Star Trek, every conceivable action thriller in the universe, almost... According to a casting call for Days of Future Past, that movie will take from mid-April to August to film, although Hugh will not likely be pre-occupied the entire time as it is a true ensemble movie. He will likely take time from late June to late July to do some promotion for The Wolverine wolverine ...As he is the only name star, it is likely that he will take the full burden of the promotional campaign - including appearances in cities across the globe, as this is likely going to be released on the same day/date worldwide.
It has been such a busy time for him - since he promoted Real Steel heavily - to Back on Broadway - to rehearsals for Les Miserables (8-9 weeks) - filming for Les Miserables ( March to June) - training and filming The Wolverine ( July to mid-November) - heavy promotion for Les Miserables release and Oscar campaign - filming Prisoners - and now Days of Future Past. He does need and deserve a bit of a rest! I may be in the minority on this issue but I hope he is not considering hosting the TONYs at this time - the timing is not right and it would be completely out of context for him at this point.
Unless HOUDINI is practically and literally waiting in the wings...

Voila -- look at the competition for this summer's slate of blockbusters :o Deadline features a Wall Street prediction on box office results. Some will fall by the wayside. Thankfully, The Wolverine is predicted to be in the winner circle, unless early fatigue for action movie comes in in mid-summer! www.deadline.com/2013/05/summer-tentpole-movies-bomb/ Jo

I don´t think Wolverine will fail. It won´t get half billion dollars in a few days like the last Iron Man but it will get its money back. It just has "only Hugh" who is, basically, very boring and dedicated, while RDJ (who I love, btw.) built his image on Tony Stark and fans love him for it. Also, Marvel (and Disney) had a HUGE promotion before the premiere. I expect more promotion for Wolverine closer to the premiere but not that major. Wolverine has (as other comic-book movies) a stable fanbase. And as much as those "he is too tall" haters may yell in discussions, they will be the first one to see it on opening night. I think the July date is also very well chosen. There is one big expected blockbuster two weeks before (Pacific Rim, I am soooo there ) but a week before (and I don´t blame them for putting them into a "possible failure" category) R.I.P.D. They go against Red 2, which probably won´t be that big either. The first movie was good but I don´t think it was that successful to make a sequel more successful. And a week after that, Smurfs 2...not sure about that but it is a family movie, possibly top the BO that weekend but Wolverine will hold on for a while And I know that Prisoners is a smaller movie but its release date worries me more because there is Rush against it that has already a hype around it and also a trailer out.

I am hoping PRISONERS gets to be seen at the Toronto Festival. Hugh and Jake make an attractive two-hander leads, with Denis Villeneuve's directing reputation very positive despite his being a relative newcomer. I am not "rushing" to see RUSH. For one, for a great F-1 fan like me, it is too old a storyline and the characters do not fascinate me. The story of James Hunt and Niki Lauda happened when I was not yet a fan ( I started following F-1 in 1996 -- almost 17 years of TV-watching of around 18-20 races a year ( and including attendance of 3 races -- I actually saw Niki Lauda going out of Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo). James Hunt is not an ultimate racer -- but more known for his playboy image. Niki Lauda is famous, partly because of his horrific accident and his championships. The cars and the racing rules are so old-fashioned, if one is to compare that era with what is obtaining these days, I'm afraid. I would likely wait for it to appear on cable TV. Plus Chris Hemsworth is too tall to be a racing driver ( most of them are average height - around 5'5" to 5'10" because height is a disadvantage to fit into the monocoque of the car ( legs too long). Sounds like a fanboy complaining about the movie Wolverine Daniel Bruhl who portrays Lauda is expected to steal the movie. F-1 is not like American car racing (Nascar et al) - so I do not know how the domestic market will shape up. Prisoners is likely going to appeal to the domestic market, if marketed well -- there is drama and there is action in a good script and there is excellent casting. We'll see Jo

Re THE WOLVERINE - I hope Fox invests heavily in marketing the movie. Tom Rothman, the cost-conscious co-Chairman is no longer there, and I hope lone CEO of Fox Films Jim Gianopulos (whose expertise is film distribution) recognizes that heavy marketing for blockbusters is really required. I hear Marvel and Disney had invested very heavily in marketing IM3. So long as you are confident about the product - why not???
I wonder if there have been any reports of advance test screenings for The Wolverine? I am hoping that the current buzz about Days of Future Past will also help boost the marketing of The Wolverine.
