Hugh has been doing that for sometime now - giving lottery tickets to cast and crew ( every Friday, from how it has been reported). He said that is one way by which he can know each one... and be on speaking terms with the people he works with.

Hugh takes Oscar to filming location -- www.news.com.au/entertainment/movies/hugh-jackmans-hairy-wolverine-debut/story-e6frfmvr-1226445040092NEWS: Hugh Jackman on set of latest film Wolverine with his son Oscar at the Hopetoun Hotel in Surry Hills. Source: Supplied Quote: A hairy Hugh Jackman was snapped walking through Sydney's Surry Hills with his son Oscar. The Aussie actor is back on home ground filming the latest installment of The Wolverine franchise. The 43-year-old looked every bit the buff Hollywood star as he filmed action scenes in a cut off sweater. Hugh has relocated his entire family to Sydney for the duration of the shoot. Wife Deborra, son Oscar and daughter Ava are no doubt happy with their new temporary home in the affluent suburb of Woollahra. While his new facial hair may be meant to scare foes in the film, Hugh made every effort to smile and wave to fans while on set.

Great pix, thanks, Jo. Hugh and Oscar -- looking more like an incipient teen every day -- can share hair-care tips.

Interesting possibility -- famed director Guillermo del Toro had discussed the directorial job with Fox fleetingly : collider.com/guillermo-del-toro-hulk-the-wolverine-interview/186970/Interesting that it was Fox co-chairman Jim Gianopulos that he talked to, instead of the other Fox co-chair Tom Rothman for this Wolverine project. Hmm... Jo

Great story about how the kids met him in Picton --
Lights, camera, action with Jackman in town
BY MICHAEL COX
08 Aug, 2012 12:00 AM
HOLLYWOOD descended on Picton on Friday as it was transformed into a movie set for the filming of The Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman.
Hundreds of people lined the street in the hope of seeing Jackman on the "snow" covered set, made to resemble a town in northern Canada.
The first scene filmed featured Jackman walking through the town's hardware store doors as a group of hunters loaded their pick-up truck with bags and rifles, drinking beer, revving each other up. The scene was shot half a dozen times and the hype grew as people began climbing on rooftops to catch a glimpse of the Aussie actor.
But it was 36 pupils from St Anthony's Primary School who got the first "exclusive" with Jackman. The school's roll was cut up into 350 pieces and thrown into a hat before the winning kids were escorted on to the movie set to meet him.
One year 5 boy asked: "Hugh, why are you so hairy?" Jackman told the boy it was because he was a hermit in the film and didn't want to be recognised.
Year 6 pupil Jade Hutchinson, an aspiring actress, stepped onto her first Hollywood set and came away with Jackman's autograph and a thumb print to prove it.
"He's a lovely guy," Jade said, and told the Advertiser she gave the autograph to her brother on his birthday on Saturday because he loved Jackman.
Aww...

SPOILERS ALERT*****************SPOILERS ALERT****************SPOILERS ALERT * * * * * * * *
I've just re-read Vol 1 of the Miller/Claremont series that became the Japanese saga.
It seems that Logan/Wolverine had been living in the Canadian Rockies for a while when he traced the grizzly bear which killed a number of people. It was after he gave the deposition re the bear incident and the hunter who initially injured it which led to the bear's aggressive killing...that he went to the XMEN's HQ near New York...where he found a pile of returned and unopened letters that he sent to Mariko.
And that is how the Japanese saga started....

An "X-Men" No. 1 (1963) comic book sold for $492,937 and an "Avengers" No. 1 (also 1963) sold for $274,850 at Heritage Auction's July 26 Vintage Comics and Comic Art auction. Both were record prices for the comic books. The original art for the cover of "The Amazing Spider Man" No. 328 (1990) sold for $657,250 at the same auction. You might find a classic comic book in your closet or attic, but you probably won't find original comic art.

New insights -- blogs.coventrytelegraph.net/thegeekfiles/2012/08/hugh-jackman-confirms-the-wolverine-is-standalone-film-not-a-sequel-and-wont-be-overloaded-with-muta.htmlQuote: Hugh Jackman confirms The Wolverine is standalone film not a sequel and won't be 'overloaded' with mutants By David Bentley on August 13, 2012 1:41 PM FILMING is now under way in Australia on The Wolverine, Hugh Jackman's second solo adventure as the metal-laced antihero. It's based largely on a comic book series in which the character travels to Japan and finds his claws clashing with samurai swords after he begins a forbidden romance. As has been hinted several times during the long journey towards production getting under way, it will not directly connect with 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Jackman told Total Film magazine: "We've deliberately not called it Wolverine 2 because we want it to be placed and feel like a standalone picture. "With an all-new cast and setting it in Japan, it's going to give us a whole new visual aesthetic." And in what must be seen as an acknowledgement of the unnecessary characters added to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Jackman adds: "The approach to character means we won't be overloaded with mutants and teams and the like, so it'll be more character-based. I think in many ways it will feel like a completely different X-Men film." Of course, film fans know only too well that a strong story is essential for any movie rather than treating this simply as a cash-generating franchise in which fans, audiences and critics will accept any and all offerings regardless of quality. And Jackman has at last taken that on board. On the approach taken to The Wolverine, he says: "I talked to Jeffrey Katzenberg (Dreamworks Animation CEO and producer of Jackman's upcoming Rise of the Guardians) about Wolverine and that franchise. "He was relating to his experiences on Shrek and said it's really got to do with the strength of the idea - the concept of why that film exists must be strong, you can't assume that the brand will bring people along. "So we went to Christopher McQuarrie, who was involved in X-Men and The Usual Suspects. He's a brilliant writer and he came up with a concept that was just phenomenal. I rang Jeffrey and he went 'Great, now you have a good idea, just go for it.'" Those following news on The Wolverine will recall various setbacks including Darren Aronofsky leaving as director and the effect of Japan's earthquake and tsunami on the shooting schedule. Jackman admits it hasn't been easy getting cameras to start rolling on The Wolverine. He said: "I'm just really glad it's happening. For a while it's felt like a rocky ride. I think it's the best idea we've had, the strongest script we've had and that now we really have an opportunity to make something really great. "I've been waiting for it so long now", he added, and then joked: "I think half the material in my one-man show is about the wait for The Wolverine!" The Wolverine is released on July 26, 2013.

James Mangold, director of The Wolverine, has just discovered the joys of Twitter and is sharing some details on the filming twitter.com/mang0ldFans are delighted - it looks like that he is responding to everyone at this point! He has shared the following details so far -- *Viper has been cast ( Svetlana Khodchenkova) *It will NOT be an all-English dialog movie, but with some Japanese dialect, spoken by true natives *Some filming scenes with Logan and his Japanese co-stars. It looks like he was advised by a Marvel digital media guy who was on a set visit ( who also met with Hugh) to open a Twitter account -- and it is working fine. Or he could have just discovered it by himself. I think it is going to make him closer to Xmen/Wolverine fans because of shared tweets...it is helping him establish his own personality stronger as a filmmaker and not get compared to Aronofsky all the time...and it seems the details are delighting fans which would minimize the current alienation of some fans from the Wolverine film. It is also allowing real Mangold fans ( many talk of his past movies) to get a closer look at him - and he does seem to have a nice personality, quite accessible and down-to-earth! Long may he tweet about The Wolverine and Wolverine himself Until the XMen fans discover his twitter account and send in a deluge of tweets - LOL! Jo

The following are fun and informative tweets on what is happening at the film set of The Wolverine. They are tweeted by Marvel's Executive Editorial Director for Internet Media Group, Ryan Penagos ( who has Twitter following of 1.36 million!) -- LOL - that was tiring to reproduce Jo
