Not sure how true the story is, as this is the first time I have come across this site -- Hugh encounters with fans are usually interesting - but this one is different -- they walk out on him !www.showbizspy.com/article/258339/hugh-jackman-causes-female-exodus-at-gym.html---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hugh Jackman Causes Female Exodus at Gym!Posted by Adam Wednesday March 27, 2013 HUGH Jackman was left stunned during a recent workout down the gym — because all the females walked out! Hugh was blissfully unaware that the ladies were exiting the building because they wanted to doll themselves up to impress him. “Do I stink…or what?” Hugh said to a friend. “This is NOT the usual effect I have on women, mate!” “Turns out the women had left because they wanted to get fluffed up and attractive for Hugh,” a source said. “He got the biggest smile on his face you’ve ever seen when the ladies eventually returned, all glammed up. “He was not only very relieved, but very, very flattered.” ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ;D

That reminds me of the story told by Maureen Lipman, Hugh's costar in the London OKLAHOMA!, in which she describes how Hugh's showing up at her home caused her daughters to run upstairs, dress to the nines and put on full makeup, LOL.

LOL - there is a slight correction to her account It wasn't her two daughters - it was her daughter and her Mum, in full makeup including mascara, who together with her sent Hugh off to the airport at half past four early in the morning. Hugh stayed with them overnight as they lived closer to the London airport he was flying from. So, it was three generations of adoring fans of one Hugh Jackman who was a 29-year old hunk then ;D Jo

Ah, it's been a number of years since I read LIP READING. Thanks for the reminder on particulars, Jo. Makes the story even better.

Yikes, I hope the Post's mention of the gym's location doesn't invite more cuckoos. Thank goodness neither a gun nor a knife was involved. Frankly, I'm surprised something like this hasn't happened before. I just hope it doesn't happen again.

I was horrified when I saw that article this morning! I had one big question... Why Doesn't He Have A Restraining Order?!!!! It wasn’t Thurston’s first time stalking the 44-year-old Australian hunk, the sources said. She once showed up at Jackman’s home in the Village, where he lives with actress wife Deborra-Lee Furness.
Jackman told cops he also has seen her outside 7-year-old daughter Ava’s elementary school in Manhattan.
But police say Thurston has no prior criminal history, and Jackman didn’t have a restraining order against her. I spent enough years in human services to know that this kind of mental illness does not just go away by itself and incidents like these will only escalate. The only real protection he would have for himself & his family is a restraining order and even that isn't a guarantee. It would just make what she did today a bigger crime that would get her off the streets and possibly into treatment. Sue

Um, I think perhaps the time has come to get that restraining order. The fact that this woman is hanging around near Ava's school is beyond frightening.
You're right, Ellen - having the gym named in the article doesn't help matters.
So much for trying to live a "normal" life when your name is Hugh Jackman.

I read another article that named the area where Hugh lives. I think if they're going to report on stalking, giving out private details like the name of Hugh's gym and where their house is located is a little irresponsible. I hope this gets settled and they can stay safe. From what I've read, she'll be arraigned on Sunday. Does that mean she'll be held until then?

I thought the same about the stories being varied, foxie. Does anyone know for sure if this story is real? Could a site have made it up and others just taken it and ran with it, or has it been on a proper news site?

GMA did the story this morning, complete with a picture of the woman sitting in court and a picture of the gym (thankfully with no name or location.) They did say that she threw the electric razor at him while screaming that she wanted to marry him. Scary stuff.

I saw some pix of her being arraigned and Hugh was quoted somewhere as saying that he hopes she gets the help she needs. I hope he gets the restraining order he needs!!! As for the media...I'm not a fan of their own stalking ways, but Hugh doesn't make his gym a secret. He's mentioned it in interviews and wears their hoodie quite often when he's running around NYC. Plus he wants to live his life like a normal person so anyone can follow him around and find out where he lives and, sadly, where the kids go to school.
He new he had a stalker and didn't get a retraining order. I hope he's learned his lesson. While he can't protect himself from every nut case and nobody wants to see him have to live in a bubble, he needs to at least take some basic precautions. I too hope she gets help but frankly, she's unlikely to get help without serious jail time. Mentally ill individuals living on the streets are usually there because they refuse treatments and don't take their meds. It's a sad and scary story all around. I pray something like this won't happen again. Sue

Sue, there's an update on the story that indicates that the deranged woman stalked him earlier in San Francisco, and he did indeed get a restraining order. That she violated that order should strengthen the case against her.

I'm relieved by that bit of good news in this horrible crazy world! Heartbroken about events in Boston right now. Sue

Entertainment Tonight reported the gym incident today with a short interview of Hugh talking about what happened. They also showed some footage of a scene being filmed for PRISONERS. Tomorrow they are going behind the scenes for PRISONERS.

ET is not being shown in the NY-NJ area today because of coverage of the tragic bombings in Boston. In what area did you see ET, Natalie?
Sue, I hope your family was safe today.

Sue,
Massachusetts was my adoptive home when I was in grad school -- and I still keep in touch with my American friend who used to live in Woburn. My heart goes out to all Bay Staters!

Ellen I've been glued to the news so didn't see ET or even know if it was on...probably not since my local channels are all covering Boston. Thank you for the kind thoughts, Ellen. We're in the western part of the state but I've gone to the marathon several times and Boston is one of my favorite places. I used to go several times a year for a week at a time but, well...I'm older now. For us here it's also a slap at our Patriots who basically started the American Revolution. It's a state holiday, should be National I think. Patriots Day is always a happy day and Boston is filled with people from all over the world. We start the day with the only morning baseball game in MLB and today we had a good win, the marathon was going well and I'm just stunned that this happened. I'm kind of rambling, been watching the TV too long. There are several children among the injured and dead. Just a sad day. Sue

I remember visiting a monument/statue honoring The Minute Men at Lexington when I was visiting my friend's Woburn home. At U of Massachusetts, our sports teams were named after the patriotic Minute Men!
There is so much historical value that your home state holds, Sue.
And the Boston Marathon, together with the New York Marathon, is probably one of the most anticipated sports events for a community event and even with people from other parts of the world.

Jo Yes we are very proud of our history and our Minutemen the Lexington & Concord ones as well as the U of M ones! I live in the area of the U of M. Yes, the Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annual marathon and one of only 6 world class marathons, including NY. It's always been run on Patriots Day and has participants & spectators from all over the world. Why some maniac would want to do such harm on this special day is beyond my comprehension. Praying for the children who are still in hospitals among the 130+ injured today. One is only 3! I have to laugh at your mention of Woburn. I had a friend/co-worker from Woburn he had the thickest "Boston" accent I ever heard. He used to tell people he was from "Woobin" but nobody could ever understand that he was saying Woburn! I needed a chuckle so that did it for me! 8-) Sue

Glad they are safe. It seems that most of the victims were spectators, very sad to think of families just waiting at the finish line for their loved one to come through. Just senseless! Sue
