Darren Aronofsky worked with the winner of this prize, and has taken time out from his duties launching Noah to come along and anoint his old collaborator an Icon. He’s sporting a buzzcut that we like to think was inspired by Russell Crowe’s mid-flood look in the film. Come to think of it, it's also a clue to this winner's look when they worked together.

Aronofsky: "I first met Hugh backstage at a performance of The Boy From Oz, after a 15 minute standing ovation that would shake the humility of the Dalai Lama. I met the kindest and most genuine man I've ever known. That's the real reason he's an icon - but he's also a great leading man. He's spent 14 years as Wolverine without a single call to recast - unique in the superhero universe. He can also dance, sing and be a leading man for Woody Allen or Christopher Nolan."

Another standing ovation, another round of hugging onstage. "Please, sit!" are his first words. "Getting an award with the word icon in it in a room with Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emma Thompson and the rest in it is RIDICULOUS."

He really is that modest. "This is a huge surprise. I really thought this would happen a lot earlier." Oh. Maybe not. "Thanks Empire for putting that clip reel together - about a minute and a half of action and very little dialogue. It's like my wedding night."

All this, and he's hilarious. Maybe the modesty and kindness is a survival mechanism because otherwise we'd have to kill him.

Jackman admitted getting a train with his face emblazoned on it was a far cry from his earlier days when he backpacked around Europe.


He said: 'It's some sort of wish fulfilment in life, when you're a young boy, to walk onto your own train. I pretty much lived on trains (before), because when I was 18 I got an InterRail card. It was about £250 and I was on £10 a day, so we slept on trains.

'I was that smelly guy in the corner, just outside the bathroom that people would have to step over. I would be swearing and drinking with my mates, so I got kicked off from many a train.'

The Australian actor joked about McAvoy appearing on the first-class carriage, with Jackman's carriage located further back, saying: 'I think it's totally appropriate that he's first-class and I'm way up the back. It's pretty wild!'

According to someone who was in the audience, the Jackman-Fassbender-McAvoy episode will air on May 2 in the UK. There was dancing and singing, and not just Hugh.

Maybe -- as it was in the GN show where Hugh sang Do You Hear the People Sing with the audience? I have also seen YT clips of Fassbender singing in public. Hmm...could MF also do a bit of Irish folk dancing ( ala Riverdance -- maybe he could teach Hugh how to do it)? Does McAvoy sing with a Scottish lilt?

Hugh and James at the launching of "their" train!

It looks like they also renamed the last stop of Wolverhampton to Wolverine ( maybe just for the day)!

I have taken several train rides from London ( to Exeter in the southwest and to Cardiff, Wales) and of course the Eurostar to Paris, but never been to one that leaves from Euston Station. I would have been grinning from ear to ear to have had the XMEN train ride

Hugh Jackman danced to Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines in between scenes for X-Men.

The leading man reprises his role as Wolverine in the new X-Men: Days Of Future Past, opposite Michael Fassbender as Magneto.

And Hugh revealed the pair had an exhilarating time on set thanks to the pop hit.

“We’d strut about,” Hugh mused to UK newspaper The Sun.

“I used to play the song in between takes on the X-Men set. It was a lot of fun. Everyone would just go into character and we’d be strutting around. It was identical to the video but we’d be mutants.”

The beloved star also revealed Michael was “particularly enamoured” by the video for Robin’s hit, which famously featured nearly nude models gallivanting around the pop star, rapper T.I. and Pharrell.

“He was very taken,” Hugh shared.

The actor revealed even James McAvoy joined them while dressed up as Charles Xavier. James was apparently prancing around right next to them, adding his vocals to the tune.

“I didn’t need to take the high bits. You’d be surprised what talented singers Michael and James are. They could get up there,” Hugh laughed, adding, “Michael, James and I. That’s a Scot, an Irishman and an Aussie... there is no greater team.”

The new X-Men film, directed by Bryan Singer, also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Peter Dinklage, Evan Peters, Ellen Page, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ian McKellan, Halle Berry and Patrick Stewart.

The feature is slated for US release next month.

Two new posters released --







I know his name is supposed to be billed above the title ( based on the trailers) -- but is the solo mention of his name on both posters (he is not even in one of them) a mistake? Or is someone from the Marketing Department helping FOX court Hugh for the next Wolverine appearance? LOL!

Hey, if these were erroneously printed, they could be like stamp misprinting and worth a lot ( as Collector's Items) if Fox decides to replace them. LOL again!

The posters say that the movie is released on May 22 ( USA release is May 23) -- that date is for the UK (where there seems to be a lot of promotion going on) and Australia ( hey, it's the favorite Boy from Oz!) and some other international markets ( including us in the Philippines). LOL - maybe Hugh is really very popular overseas

Or...since it seems Hugh's contract secured the above-the-title billing, does this mean that any mention of the title must carry his name above it in all promotional materials and official releases? Kind of like when a director's name is mentioned above the title ( such as A Film by Darren Aronofsky)?

This is causing another level of controversy, especially among those fans who "hate" the focus on Wolverine in all the films ( even in that celebrated cameo in First Class).

It seems that new posters were released probably for domestic USA consumption because the release date is now May 23!

No "Hugh Jackman" above-the-title highlight this time







Some sites have indicated that Empire (from the UK) released the posters with the Jackman highlight while ( US ticket seller) was supposed to have released the poster without any cast name.

*Either this was deliberate on the marketing side -- because the relatively nondescript posters are now generating controversy ( aka being talked about) -- or was this simply an error on Empire's side?

*Lol- will they continue to distribute the ones with Hugh's name-only highlight -- they are collector's items now! Just like the Paquin Empire cover, if Anna has been really edited from any scenes from the movie

The 45-year-old actor told The Sun, "Michael was particularly enamored with the video to "Blurred Lines"."
