That confirms the casting of Patrick Stewart! If filmsites have been more comprehensive in their coverage, they would have known beforehand that Patrick Stewart is indeed part of WOLVERINE 3! Jo

The comments from Kinberg re the western tone, the violence, and the futuristic setting seem to further indicate that WOVLERINE 3 might be based on OLD MAN LOGAN --
Although I think the fantasy aspect might be toned down.

Two interesting entries under FULL CAST AND CREW for WOLVERINE 3 (aka UNTITLED WOLVERINE SEQUEL) on IMDB -- www.imdb.com/title/tt3315342/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#castHe was also the stunt double for Hugh in THE WOLVERINE. Georgia as in the filming locale for PRISONERS? I thought they were only filming in New Orleans and in New Mexico?

The expected R rating has of course generated very positive reactions in general. How is this for fanboy humor, courtesy of the SuperHeroHype forum <giggle*> <giggle*>

This further confirms that he is wearing a full beard ( not mutton chops) as Wolverine in the finale movie? But he looks awfully young to be OLdManLogan Jo

It's exhilarating that there's much excitement about Hugh's final Wolverine film - on social media, on message boards, on filmsites , and even some of the Apocalypse interviews are being hijacked to respond to questions about WOLVERINE 3. One fan put this poster together ?

Taken in NYC for the weekend, after about 2 weeks of New Orleans filming -- is this how Wolverine will look like ( facial hair) ?

I found this article posted on IMDB. The author challenges the artistic decision to create a movie with a projected "R" rating and calls that decision a mistake. www.grunge.com/14347/r-rated-wolverine-movie-mistake/I will also post my replies to that article which I posted on the IMDB Board.

Here are my thoughts on the article --
Maybe the author should have stopped at that!
And not add this rather facetious conclusion --
As he said earlier about what an "R" rating could mean --
That is a farfetched assumption. The project development took some time because they wanted an excellent script. Hugh and James Mangold have previously worked together in The Wolverine and save for the last act, that movie showed strong character and plot development. If you had seen the Director's Cut, which would probably raise the rating to "R" for the movie, there is consensus that it showed a more compelling movie.
Also, the projected R rating was not a consequence of the success of Deadpool. As Singer earlier confirmed, what he knew was that it was always the intention to make a movie that would likely get an R rating, not for the sake of the rating itself, but delving deeper into the many Wolverine sagas might involve stronger action scenes, stronger language, and maybe other more adult material. Remember how an influx of response texts were sent to Hugh when he asked fans to let him know what they would like to see in his final portrayal of Wolverine? Who are we to say that he and James Mangold were not inspired by the fan feedback when they were getting involved in outlining the plot and character development for this movie?
I would not prejudge the movie, until we finally see it. I am hoping that our curiousity would be partly satisfied if and when they share a detailed synopsis of the storyline and maybe give us a peek into the different characters. The article's author simply made some presumptuous assumptions, I am afraid.
Btw, I could be wrong, but I am not sure if Simon Kinberg is as intimately involved in the production as much as Hutch Parker ( who confirmed during the Apocalypse premiere that "he was just there on loan from the Wolverine 3 filming") and Lauren Shuler Donner, both of whose production companies are listed as producers. True, Kinberg talked about the overall tone ( "like a western, violent, radical"), but he did not really share a lot of details and he is not involved in the scripwriting ( as he was in APOCALYPSE). Many fans assume that it sounds like a an adaptation of OldManLogan... It seems Kinberg is more involved in the creative process and release of Apocalypse as well as forward planning the next steps in the franchise.
***********************************************************************************************
As for narrowing the audience, as presumed by the article's author --
Who are we to say that it could not work either way? The cinema may lose the younger demos, but if the movie is well-made and is critically well-received, how do we know that it cannot attract more mature audiences who generally do not care for comic-book movies?
Who are we to say that repeat patronage (from fans who can see it) may not be heightened because it is a well-crafted and well-acted movie?
Who are we to say that Hugh's female fanbase ( especially those who are not keen about his Wolverine movies) may not find it more interesting to watch and/or re-watch because it is a film for more sophisticated audiences, with a more compelling storyline and character portrayals?
Who are we to say that real fans will not watch it several times more than they would watch PG-13 stuff to send the studio the message that in some cases, if the occasion calls for it, more mature material would be more than welcome?
As one fan teased the father of a 5-year old who was bewailing that he cannot take his son to the movie : "I promise to see it enough times to make up for your son missing the movie "
Or, the 5-year old will eventually grow up...and he can always watch the video(BluRay/DVD) at some point when his parents deem it already age-appropriate for him?
Most importantly, maybe a major consideration for Hugh Jackman and James Mangold is to create a finale movie that they can be very proud of, artistically-speaking! Not all movies are meant simply to be tentpoles! Even Fox supports more artistic endeavors if called for!

LOL- it is obvious I don't read the comics -- I just found out there were other stories of OLDMANLOGAN, other than the previous upload I have posted here. Again, a lot of fantasy ( including tie-ups with Avengers and other characters in the Marvel universe) -- but there are some familiar characters ( Emma Frost, a young Jean Grey, other mutants, etc) and even a short overlap with Apocalypse. I wonder how the scriptwriters, James Mangold, and Hugh are sorting all these out, to come up with a cinematic OldManLogan journey? Maybe they will simply concentrate on how Logan/Wolverine had to cope in the far future? PS: I am checking out other uploads - maybe there were other stories of the comicbook OldManLogan to tell Jo

This is terribly confusing! It seems that the comic series OLDMANLOGAN did not really stop after The Death of Wolverine. In 2015, there was another series which I posted in the previous post. In 2016, they released another series -- No wonder it was taking Hugh and James M and the scriptwriters a very long time to select what they would eventually adapt as the film version of Wolverine in the future ( known as OldManLogan) Jo

I'm quite certain that they didn't use this most recent Old Man Logan story line in their script. It's only started this year after all. Last year's story - a limited series - was a part of the "Secret Wars" crossover, and the result of those events was that Logan of the future mistakenly ended up in the "present day" Marvel universe. So now he has his own title, and he's a part of an X-Men team as depicted in the Extraordinary X-Men comic. In that team, incidentally, there is also a very young Jean Grey, who has travelled FORWARD in time from the original comic team of the 1960s. The two of them have an interesting relationship, in that Logan remembers her future self and their special connection. Anyway. It's amusing that so many people think the movies have continuity issues, when the comics are so much worse.
Anyway, given that the current script was nearly done before this latest comic series even began, there's very little chance these recent comic stories have anything to do with the film. To be honest, I'm not even sure how much the original Old Man Logan story line will be followed.

LOL! Fanboys insist on perfect continuity from movie to movie to movie It is likely that WOLVERINE 3 is going to be a loose adaptation, with some characters likely borrowed, and the crossover stories and fantasy elements likely dropped. Even THE WOLVERINE was such -- I did get hold of the Japanese saga comic book compilation and what we actually saw in the movie was somewhat different. While filming, there might be occasional changes to the working script, hence the scriptwriters ( including James Mangold who also writes) may have to tinker with the original one occasionally. And in post-production, while editing, further tinkering can happen that may change the original assembly of usable filmed scenes...and of course full reshoots or simply pick-up shots can also happen. Hence the director's role is never finished until the film is almost ready for release. Remember how Les Miserables finally found its final version? Jo

Another fan creation of how OldManLogan might look -- it seems many are speculating that the theme of WOLVERINE 3 is going to be based on that time in Logan's life ? Some fans have already noted that Hugh is wearing short head hair in his off-set photos ( the photo with makeup artists, the "Tuesday" photo, the "Gene" photo, and even those taken by the paps in the past weekend).
