Liev Schreiber Reprises Role As Sabretooth Rumored as Hugh Jackman Wants Logan To Fight Deadpool Again In The Third Movie!

Marvel fans rejoice! Logan's half-brother/arch nemesis, Victor Creed a.k.a Sabretooth will return in the third Wolverine spin off.

According to ComicBookMovie.com, the producers of Wolverine 3 pitched in several characters of whom Logan will face in the movie. Four characters were mentioned and they are Daken, Cyber, Omega Red and Sabretooth.

The question still remains though; will we see Wolverine fight Deadpool again? With Jackman's sudden change of heart in leaving the X-Men franchise and agreeing to do X-Men Apocalypse and Wolverine 3, there could be a possibility that these two will clash again. Will it be in the Deadpool movie or in Wolverine 3, who knows?

If Wolverine/Logan becomes part of APOCALYPSE, where he is speculated to become the Horseman-Death( supposedly a villainous role), how will this segue into WOLVERINE 3 ?

How will he get back his adamantium claws after what happened in The Wolverine? If he is in APOCALYPSE, some say it will the supervillain ancient mutant ( called Apocalyse) who will restore them? Others say that Magneto may be doing the honors?

It seems filmsites, esp those who focus on superhero movies, hang on to every little bit of news on the forthcoming XMEN movies.

From the interview with Josh Horowitz, most film sites have started speculating on the direction these movies are taking. Some have even posed the question on whether Hugh will be in the Apocalypse movie or not...or the theme(s) for the last of the Wolverine trilogy.

This guy just seems to be one heck of a fun person to hang with. I love his interviews with Howard Stern and how open he is. He always seems to be the life of the party and can do no wrong. He IS Wolverine. Nobody can replace him.

Hugh Jackman.

He just rocks.
I mean no matter what you say about the "X" films (I only really like a couple - the rest are just ok) you have to admire the fact that Jackman wont give up the role of Wolverine. He sticks with it through the ups and downs of the series. I am glad he is in Apoc. and Wolverine 3.

Yes, I understand that it seems to be very unlikely that I will be in the next "X-Men" movie, which is almost getting ready to start shooting in Montreal.

A Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman pairing sounds like a wonderful and refreshing idea! Will it explore the initial hostility on the part of Wolverine when they first meet...and then follow their melding of contrasting personalities until it gets to a retelling of the quest for Wolverine's origins? Or is Mangold exploring other story strands? But whatever it is, Stewart and Jackman bring together the full XMEN gravitas that I think may be missing in Apocalypse if they cast that movie without Wolverine/Jackman at least!

No offense meant, but XMEN without the original major cast is like a retelling of the story with watered down versions of themselves. I don't even like Jennifer Lawrence's personification of Mystique -- when I rewatch one of the original trilogy movies, esp the first one, Rebecca Romijn's portrayal strikes me as the perfect Mystique! Neither does James McAvoy's portrayal make me think that the character will eventually become the wise, noble, and forceful Prof Xavier that we come to associate with Patrick Stewart. Michael Fassbender might be a gritty Magneto but where is the levity ( with a wink) that Ian Mckellen embues in the role? Jean Grey, to me, will always be the statuesque and wise persona ( but a hidden darkness within), brought on the screen by Famke Janssen!

And Wolverine -- without the character and the actor ( Hugh Jackman) -- where is the essential masculine persona in all the XMEN stories? He attracts the men because they admire his guts and somewhat quirky personality! And the women find him as a romantic figure! Look at all the gruffness, the muscles, and the Jackman magic!

Hope FOX doesn't make the mistake of ignoring the pillars of the XMEN movies! At least in some capacity! In Jackman's case -- they may lose a good deal of their female audience ..And maybe some of the men, too -- who come to see Broadway shows maybe against their supposedly better instincts ( just so they can bring their faux Wolvie claws at the stagedoor)

Yesterday, Sir Patrick Stewart revealed that he would not, as was widely suspected, be returning for ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. He did, however, tease his involvement in the next ‘Wolverine’ movie saying, “we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together.” He offered no further details, so we took this rumor straight to the man himself, Wolverine, and asked Hugh Jackman for some details.

Jackman seemed a little surprised that news had leaked out (“Hmmm, I didn't see that he said that...”), but did confirm that Stewart would be joining him in the next ‘Wolverine’ movie after ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ (even if he was a little afraid about giving too much away).


"There is...(laughs) I don't want to give away too much about that. But, yes, there are some ideas brewing along that front. I've always thought that was a key relationship [for Wolverine] from the very beginning, from ‘X-Men 1’ and so, it'd be fun to explore that. (Laughs) I think...

What exactly the plot of this ‘Wolverine’ sequel is remains to be seen. Jackman previously said, “Well, of course we’re looking at ‘Old Man Logan’, because that may be the only option left at this point!” before adding, “We are looking at a lot of different storylines.”

There's no immediate storyline that jumps out where Wolverine and Professor X go out and fight crime like Starsky and Hutch, but even if they adapted an existing storyline (or storylines) for the film, it seems like it would be easy to include Xavier as a main character. Director James Mangold, who will return to direct this untitled ‘Wolverine’ movie, has said you can expect less mutants in this movie, which was precisely what we found so refreshing about ‘The Wolverine’ (Viper notwithstanding). A simple dynamic between Wolverine and Xavier is all you really need, and one of the few strong relationships Logan has left in his life.

Whatever this next Wolverine movie is, it's very likely to be the last. Jackman said last year, “If I did another [‘Wolverine’ movie] I’m 99.9% sure it would be the last.” That's probably why, as excited as he is about the Marvel/Spider-Man crossover, he's not too optimistic about that ever working out in his favor.

Just the other day, Patrick Stewart revealed the potential for him to reprise the role of Charles Xavier in the sequel to THE WOLVERINE opposite Hugh Jackman. Stewart teased it as very different than the X-MEN films he had worked on and that it would explore the relationship between the Professor and his emotionally-charged mutant team-member. But, it seemed to be just a possible idea being floated rather than set in stone.

During the recent junket for CHAPPIE, our own Eric Walkuski asked Jackman if there was any truth to the rumor of THE WOLVERINE 2 featuring Logan working side by side with the elder Professor X.

"I'm not going to deny it. I've learned over the years to try and put my best poker face on. By the way, play poker with me if you want to win some money, because I'm terrible. But, I've always seen it as a really important relationship, and we started with that and I think it's a really important one. I think it would be really great to see it in the Wolverine movie, because we haven't really explored it in the standalone Wolverine movies. So it's not not not not not going to happen."

While that last sentence was meant to be something of a joke, Hugh Jackman did not discount that Stewart was telling the truth about the potential team-up between Xavier and Logan. After the great work that James Mangold did giving us a powerful take on THE WOLVERINE, I would love to see what he could do with the father-son dynamic between these two characters. Even though Wolverine is significantly older than Xavier, the two have a lot they can learn and teach each other.

THE WOLVERINE 2 is slated to hit theaters on March 3, 2017.

News broke the other day from the mouth of Patrick Stewart himself that he was in talks to join up with Hugh Jackman in the next Wolverine movie. (The Wolverine 2? Wolverine 3? Whatever you call it.) It looks like the plan is to feature Professor Xavier in the sequel to James Mangold’s film in some way. We caught up with Jackman on Tuesday to get his comment on the situation, and, as expected, he skirted around the topic.

We haven't had [Charles Xavier] in the Wolverine movies, and it’s always been a really important relationship to understand. ... I’m not gonna deny it, but I’m not gonna not not not say it’s true… not. You got it?

That's one of the best non-denial non-confirmations we've heard. While he couldn’t for obvious reasons reveal any details on what this film might entail, he did confirm that it will be based on an existing comic book arc. When asked about that specifically, he joked:

With James Mangold's The Wolverine based on the character’s famous Japan Saga in the comic books -- which offered a darker dive into the superhero’s psyche -- where might he take us next with his longtime confidante and mentor Professor X by his side? What side of the character might we see next? Not much else is known about The Wolverine 2, except from what the actor said about actively working on this film with director James Mangold with a script from David James Kelly.

Earlier, Jackman commented on the future of Wolverine’s character in light of the major news that Sony and Marvel are working together to bring Spider-Man into the MCU fold. Though the adamantium-clawed anti-hero is in 20th Century Fox terrain, he seemed to pine for the "ideal world" when a Wolverine-Avengers crossover could happen on screen.

As the next Wolverine movie is scheduled for release on March 3, 2017, with X-Men: Apocalypse a year before that on May 27, 2016, the actor previously said that he expects to shoot both of these films back to back. Up to this date, the previous Wolverine films have kept Logan separate from his brothers and sisters in the X-Men universe, though he pined heavily for his lost love, Jean Grey, in Mangold's The Wolverine. There was a post-credits sequence at the end of that film which set up X-Men: Days of Future Past -- as well as a Happy Ending coda that concluded Bryan Singer's film. Jackman and Stewart's comments have us wondering when, specifically, this next Wolverine movie could take place -- but it certainly sounds like the actors are ready to work together once again as these iconic characters!

“Birdman” — which is favored to win the Best Picture Oscar and follows the suicidal star of a once-popular superhero franchise — has a particular hold on “X-Men” star Hugh Jackman.

“I said to my wife, ‘The moral is that I should never stop playing Wolverine. I’ve got to find a way to keep playing him until I die,’” Jackman, 46, jokes in Cigar Aficionado.

But, he figures, “I know someday they’ll recast the role with another actor . . . I’d be happy if the role was eventually recast. It would mean that it had become iconic.”

It's somewhat amazing to realize that the release calendar for March 2017 is now complete with four different tent poles. The next (and potentially final) "Wolverine" is slated for March 3,* Legendary Pictures will bring forth their version of the King of the Apes in "Kong: Skull Island" on March 10, "Divergent" will end its cinematic run with "The Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 2" on March 24 and, surprise, Walt Disney Pictures' live action "Beauty and the Beast" will now open on March 17. Can you guess which one will garner the most attention?

*A Hugh Jackman movie opening less than two weeks after the Oscars? It didn't work for "Chappie," but, boy that would be an incredibly convenient time for him to host again, wouldn't it?

Winter is no longer considered a no-no for releasing tentpoles usually reserved for spring/summer/early fall. Deadpool is going out as solo movie in February 2016...and now we have the third Wolverine solo being released on March 3, 2107. Btw, Cinderella ran up an opening weekend of $ 68 million in the second weekend of March 2015.

Wolverine 3 is supposed to start filming by early next year ( confirmed by James Mangold) and so the announcemet of the release date completes the greenlight process.

Wolverine 3 is coming off the release of another Jackman FOX Studio film project -- GREATEST SHOWMAN ON EARTH will open on Christmas Day 2016 ( and onto January).

Hmm...HitFix wants Hugh to host the Oscars for that year -- hmmm... I am hoping something better than that -- maybe a chance for the movie and Hugh's portrayal for Oscar glory instead

On Monday, Walt Disney Studios confirmed "Beauty's" release date and the impressive cast which had leaked to the press over the past few months. Emma Watson will play Belle, Dan Stevens will portray the Beast, Luke Evans is on board as Gaston (slightly older than we would have thought, but we'll go with it), Emma Thompson is Mrs. Potts and Kevin Kline will play Belle's father, Maurice. Josh Gad had been rumored as Le Fou, but the studio did not include the "Frozen" star in their announcement. Curiously, there is still no word on who will get to have the honor of singing "Be Our Guest" as Lumiere, but with production slated to start in May they have a few months to figure it out (Can Jean Dujardin sing? Could be perfect, non?).

Oscar winner Bill Condon, who appears back on track based on the early reviews of "Mr. Holmes," will direct and if you aren't aware of how important his contributions to "Chicago" were or how freaking amazing "Dreamgirls" truly is than you don't read me enough or follow me on twitter (he also just earned critical acclaim for his re-staging of "Sideshow" on Broadway late last year). Condon will follow an adapted screenplay from "The Perks of A Wallflower's" Stephen Chbosky and none other than Mr. Alan Menken will be on hand to score the film. The eight-time Oscar winner's songs from the original 1991 animated classic will be included as well as a few new showstoppers. So, it might be slated for March 2017, but you can already put this one down as a player in the 2018 Oscar Best Original Song race (at a minimum).

I've added the article's reporting on the Beauty and the Beast project because:

*It shares a March 2017 release date with Wolverine 3 - as it opens two weeks later than the Wolverine third trilogy movie.

*Hugh's first professional stage debut was in Beauty and the Beast in 1996...as Gaston!

*Remember the actor who played Lancelot in Night At The Museum ( Dan Stevens)? Small world - he is playing The Beast in this movie.

*Bill Condon is helming the movie. Bill has helped polish the script for GREATEST SHOWMAN ON EARTH.



I can't believe we are talking of events that will occur some two years from now.

EDIT: You're right, Sue. I rechecked and the release date of March 3, 2017 has been a firm date for at least a year now.

I think it was GREATEST SHOWMAN ON EARTH which was slotted much later on ( only when the Christmas Day release was vacated by the AVATAR sequel). Now, there will be two major Hugh movies released within 68 days of each other. Hugh will be doing media junkets/premieres one after another.

Some people have wondered if he was referring to APOCALYPSE or to WOLVERINE 3. The timing seemed odd if this was for WOLVERINE 3 because that won't start filming till early next year ( per James Mangold). It would sound more appropriate to announce this before filming for the last part of the trilogy.

Some have wondered if this is not really saying goodbye to the role but a hint that the next solo movie will be Wolverine's valedictory episode called OLD MAN LOGAN?

Still, could this be simply advance publicity for the final part of the trilogy -- that there will no longer be any future Wolverine solo movies?
