Ferriday was chosen as a film site for the movie Wolverine 3 because of Concordia Parish’s pretty countryside and green cornfields, according to the movie’s supervisor location manager.

Filming by Fox Louisiana Productions began this week.

"We are very appreciative for the way we've been welcomed with open arms and the cooperation shown by the community," said Supervisor Location Manager Maria Bierniak. "The Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office and Ferriday Police have been really great. It is so nice to come in and get this type of cooperation. And the people have been so patient."

Bierniak said Ferriday was chosen specifically because the movie needed "a beautiful country setting with corn."

Filming is also scheduled in Sicily Island.

The film company has set up its base at the Ferriday Shopping Center, which is packed with vehicles and workers swarming from tents to trucks to camera locations.

"You see all those names at the end of the movie?" Bierniak asked. "This is it."

Filming is taking place on U.S. Highway 425 between Field Road and Gregg Road.



"This is so much bigger than I thought it would be," said Ferriday Mayor Gene Allen, who along with Town Clerk Tamiko Hines had a chance to meet actors Eriq LaSalle and Elise Neal. "This is really great for the town of Ferriday and we are honored to have them here."

Hugh Jackman, who plays the lead role in the movie, has been spotted in Vidalia and Ferriday.

The Wolverine sequel is speculated to be Jackman’s final appearance in a Wolverine movie franchise.

Jackman has played the role of Logan over the course of 17 years.




Parking is not permitted on Louisiana Avenue from First Street to Second Street, which includes the front of Riverland Pediatric Clinic, Security Finance and Concordia Dance Studio, as well as the vacant lot on the opposite side to allow. This is to allow space for 18-wheelers to turn at the stoplight on First Street from June 12-16.

All through traffic between Ferriday and Clayton is being rerouted via Highway 568 and Highway 900.

Local access will be permitted to residents within the closure area in between takes.

The approximate hours of the closure are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.




The crew hopes to complete filming in Ferriday on Thursday before moving on the Sicily Island.

At that time, US 425 in Catahoula Parish, at the intersection of La. 8 to its intersection with La. 913, will be closed from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Vehicles must detour using LA 8 to LA 913 to US 425.

Other cast members are Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant and Richard Grant.

CONCORDIA PARISH, La (KNOE 8 News) - Hollywood trucks and star sightings, for small town Vidalia and Ferriday the Wolverine Sequel filming is leaving people living here star struck.

"Blown away, amazed to see Hugh Jackman here in Vidalia, Natchez, Ferriday it's something new for us we've never had anybody that big over in this area," says Ronald Chatman.

Chatman is the manager at Vidalia Total Fitness, one of the places where Jackman's been seen working out.

"It's an honor for us to have him here our job is just to make him feel comfortable, make him feel at home and we want to make all people feel like it's their home so we want to make him feel at home as well," says Chatman.

He says he couldn't resist taking a selfie with the actor and his two stunt doubles.

"My job was just to make sure he works he could sign autographs and taking pictures in the beginning or after and he choose the end and it was fun a lot of fun," says Chatman.

He also got an autograph and says it will hang in the gym for others to see, but many people in Ferriday haven't been that lucky.




"thought I saw Hugh Jackman but I couldn't really tell and I don't know it might have been or it might not have been," says Matt Long.

He works right across the street and often looks out his window hoping to get a glimpse.

"It's pretty cool you know seeing all the and how they do everything and how they pull the vehicle when they are filming like the driving scenes and yeah it's pretty cool," says Long.

For those who haven't encountered the Hollywood visitors time could be running out. Crews tell us this was their last day in Ferriday as they move down the road to Sicily Island.

The agency said it was for a film called “Juarez”, which is Wolverine 3’s working title.

It read: “This is one of the last scenes for the movie, so don’t miss your chance.”


The listing gave a whole host of underworld characters for the R-rated superhero movie...

I think the agency was referring to the scenes being the last ones for the Louisiana shoot? They have been filming for less than 2 months.

Presumably the next filming location will be in New Mexico.

When Dan DuBose found out his business was modifying trucks for the third Wolverine movie, it was hard to contain his excitement...






DuBose was contacted by a studio representative with 20th Century Fox about doing modifications for four Dodge Ram trucks. The trucks should appear in scenes involving a car chase and another depicting a border crossing into Mexico.

“They’re going to use them in a couple different scenes in the movie,” DuBose said.

Motobilt received the trucks a few weeks ago and mechanics have been working on them for the last two weeks. The trucks are to be shipped in the next few days. But before the Motobilt mechanics could start working, they had to develop a plan of action. All they were given to go by was an artist rendering of the trucks’ finished look. That wasn’t the only challenge, however.

“One of the difficulties in building these trucks – we’re not allowed to drill holes or modify the trucks in any way that they can’t go back to stock,” DuBose said. “But yet we have to do all this work.”

In other words, the trucks must look like they did prior to the modifications. The challenge was how to add brush guards, racks and give the trucks an armored appearance without drilling holes or cutting metal....

A casting call for an overnight shoot in New Orleans includes roles for drug dealers,
prostitutes, homeless, and cartel gang members.

The post containing the information also indicates that the scene to be shot is for the last scenes of the movie. All auditionees should be over the age of 18 but may have to look older than their actual age. All ethnicities are accepted for the roles, except for the cartel gang members who have to be Hispanic-looking.

Drug dealers should appear to be in their 20s to 50s, prostitutes to be in their 20s to 30s, homeless people to be in their 30s to 60s, and cartel members to be in their 20s to 40s.

"Wolverine 3" is going for the "R" rating so it is not surprising to note that the roles suggest a very violent setting. It will be the last time actor Hugh Jackman will play the role. However, the "X-Men" franchise is still looking to create more films, and as such, it is speculated that a younger Wolverine will be introduced in the film to symbolize the "passing of torch" between Jackman and the next character actor.

Thanks for the update.

It is likely, though, that the scenes referred to in the article will just be the last scenes of filming in Louisiana. After the Louisiana shoot, they are moving to New Mexico for the next ( and probably last ) phase of filming. Filming is supposed to wrap on August 19. There was another casting call in New Mexico where the requirements are for military types and that the response-email should be headed "REAVER", which is the reported other villains for the movie. Also, there was a report that armored-looking vehicles have been commissioned ( to be used by the cyborg Reavers?) and are now ready for delivery, probably for New Mexico.

Since the project is code-named JUAREZ, could they also be filming in nearby ( to New Mexico) Mexico??

There have been earlier speculations that the new mutant with the claws could be X-23. But the character seen on the leaked set photos seemed to be portrayed by a young girl ( she was also sporting touches of blood on her knuckles, as did Hugh's Logan).

Lots of speculations -- Kinberg says this is all deliberate to cloak the project with secrecy because they want us fans to be surprised when we finally see the movie in almost 8 months time

Although fanboys and fangirls are really a nosy lot -- and will try to uncover any of those secrets the best that they can
