LOL- James Mangold is not just a director but also does scriptwriting on the side...Plus there is already an announced screenwriter for this project which Mangold has categorically said is due to start filming in ealy 2016! And hasn't Jim said when Hugh first sent out his farewell message ("One Last Time!") in March that he has already been "toiling quietly" on the project for sometime now. It is also incongruous for FOX to have given it a final greenlight without the semblance of at least a first draft-script!

Hugh is using social media to to give fanboys and fangirls a means to provide inputs to the project. It is also an excellent vehicle to keep upping the interest in the project ( which already seems to have the makings of a hit, if only for sentimental reasons). The responses on Facebook and Twitter are tremendous. Filmsites are reporting the Jackman challenge to fans. Media has also noted the famous tweet ( BBC, ABC, etc...even theatreboards like BWW).

I wonder - the most often-cited request is for Wolverine to don his comic-book costume ( which was teased in THE WOLVERINE in the special features for the BluRay/DVD). Will Hugh be game enough to put it on ...Fans are requesting if he could put it on even if only for at least a few minutes to give them one chance to see how the film Wolverine fights with this full costume on.

I am guessing that Hugh is game enough for it - and it may show up in one or two scenes ( maybe even for comic relief?).

I'm not sure that fan input for any script is a good idea. It could end up to be a disjointed hodge-podge instead of a meaningful finale/farewell to an iconic film character.

Hugh's initiative is a nice touch -- it validates the covenant between the film actor who first saw the Hollywood light of day as Wolverine in 2000 and the Wolverine fans -- it has been a long and happy journey and would end by 2017! How can Hugh not go back to the people who cheered him as the film Wolverine, despite the many initial objections about his suitability for the role - mainly due to Hugh's own physical attributes compared to the comicbook superhero


I doubt that a script has not been written at this point...perhaps Hugh and Mangold only want to get some feedback on what could spice up the movie that would make fans very happy.

Example: Other than the costume request, there are also a few recurring suggestions, which could change the tone but not nessarily the essence of the plot -- such as an "R" rating. The Wolverine was given scenes on DVD which could have translated into an R rating ( a persistent issue is why there has been less violence/no realism on screen which is not running consistent with the comicbook hero - no blood when he withdraws his claws after a stabbing with the claws).

There is a whiff of change as to the taste of the targeted demographics --

*The trailer/footage from DEADPOOL ( which was peppered with R-rated words but laced in humor) was the most popular at ComicCon -- the fans chanted that they wanted to see it again ...and the ComicCon reshowed the footage. Deadpool was also wearing a costume

*R ratings are no longer as feared, for box office reasons. Prisoners was rated R and yet the critical acclaim has been solid. American Sniper was a big box office success and even won an Oscar nod for B.Cooper.


Not saying that these changes in the tone of action movies can be all good -- but comicbook stories are fantasy stories,  laced with violence and explosions ( even mild-mannered Superman is now going toe to toe against Batman). On the other hand, part of The Wolverine ( where he goes against the Silver Samurai part) was generally panned...although the realistic fighting with Mariko's father was deemed excellent.

Is this a cultural trend that is disturbing - maybe? But one need not show violence for its own sake only. A movie script can be so delicately tweaked that the message comes across without being really offensive.

On a sentimental note -- some people wanted to see a flashback to the very first iconic XMEN movie ( such as by way of some reunion with a member or two from the original cast). Why not



I think we can trust the judgment of Hugh and James ( Mangold) as to how they may want to spice up the movie.

It would be interesting to know what is going behind the scenes at FOX. Even Hugh's abrupt announcement in March about his "One last time!" with the Wolverine role was quite unexpected.

But this news about Tatum and Gambit, after all the hype in the past year, is very unexpected!

It never ceases to amaze me how many movies go off the rails and wind up either with a brand-new cast or not being filmed at all. If Tatum exits, I wonder if Fox will tap Taylor Kitsch to return to his former role. A lot of people would like that turn of events, I'm sure.

I would like to see Taylor Kitsch get the role if Tatum eventually leaves the project - I think Taylor fits the look of Gambit much better. He was quite good in ORIGINS.

Hugh Jackman's 16-year career as the muscle-milked, vein-popping Wolverine comes to an end with Wolverine 3, the comic book series' next installment, slated for a March 3, 2017 release. Fans are despairing but Jackman knows that nothing soothes a wound like good old-fashioned democracy. On Monday, the actor tweeted a plea to Marvel fans everywhere to send in plot suggestions for the upcoming film, opening the floor to the infinite expanse of the World Wide Web. Followers outside of the tri-state area may not be as familiar with the song-and-dance side of Jackman as those of us who have been following his Tony-winning Broadway career, so TheaterMania decided this could be the perfect opportunity to introduce the rest of the world to Hugh Jackman: X-Man and Showman. Here are just a few suggestions…and no, we did not abide by his suggested 50-word limit.




Wolverine 3: Logan vs. Audrey II

Since Little Shop of Horrors debuted over 30 years ago, we've been wondering what happens next in Audrey II's plot for world domination. Perhaps it leads him to a battle royale with Wolverine, the only foe strong enough to take on the killer plant — or plants, as the case may be. Even if our juiced-up superhero is outmuscled, Logan can claw his way out of any botanical jam (Berserker Rage…duh) and then celebrate his victory with a hearty salad.

Marvel Comics' Old Man Logan storyline from the Wolverine series will not be used for the next film, but that's no reason to discard the material altogether. The plot picks up 50 years in the future where the world's supervillains join together to destroy all superheroes. With Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart on hand as Magneto and Professor X, the X-Men franchise could capitalize on this Waiting for Godot reunion by throwing Jackman in the mix and making Wolverine the world-saving Godot we've all been waiting for. Culture for the masses!

After a long, tiring career of crime-fighting, Logan retires to his Canadian motherland where he puts his hot bod to use on the cabaret circuit. Deadpool, Maverick/Agent Zero, John Wraith, Fantomex — the whole gang joins him for an evening of stories and torch songs. Jackman's gold lamé pants from his Tony-winning Peter Allen days may be a little snug, but it wouldn't be a Wolverine farewell tour without some Weapon XXX.






Hollywood star Hugh Jackman has revealed he wants his last Wolverine movie to include Irish mythological heroes Cu Chulainn and Fionn MacCumhaill.

The 46-year-old actor recently learned about Irish ancient folklore and believes the stories could ‘shake-up’ the X-Men spin-off – suggesting the films go back to prehistoric Ireland when wolves were common.

“They were all over the countryside before they were wiped out and it could be interesting, maybe a tad preposterous to some to travel back in time, although we did it in the last X-Men film,” he said.


Irish roots: Hugh admitted he would like to see Wolverine have Irish roots

“So travel back to Ireland and proper investigate Logan’s past. Shake things up.

“I guarantee you, there’s some Irish blood in there. And I loved the myths and legends,” he told The Irish Sun on Sunday.

“A friend of mine from Ireland gave me a book of them and Cu Chulainn and those stories, they’re amazing.

Jackman was largely responsible for injecting millions into the Australian film industry when he shot 2013’s The Wolverine at Fox Studios.

The sequel, which will be his final run as super mutant Logan, is in pre-production and Jackman this week put a call out to his fans on Twitter asking what they want to see happen.

There is also some talk in Australia that GREATEST SHOWMAN EARTH may film in Australia. If he films it back to back with WOLVERINE 3, Hugh will regain his full Aussie accent

He's currently preparing for his final appearance as Wolverine, but while fans mourn his departure Hugh Jackman admits the iconic character will be bowing out in style.

The Australian actor announced in May that his seventh appearance in what has been a career defining role will be his last, 15-years after making his debut as Wolverine in 2000 smash The X-Men.

But while details surrounding the new film remain vague, Hugh, 46, revealed his much-loved character will be raising an already lofty bar during its more violent moments.


'I must admit I was quite heartened by a number of people saying please don’t make it the last,' he told Sydney Confidential.


'But I’m really excited about this last one and if you’re a comic book fan then the words beserker rage came up a lot. If you know Wolverine you’ll understand.'

The term refers to the boiling anger experienced by Wolverine when resisting the temptation to retaliate against an assailant - thus increasing his already significant body strength and pushing him into a seemingly psychopathic state of consciousness.



The new film, Hugh's third solo outing as the Marvel character, will see Wolverine reunite with X Men mentor Charles Xavier, played by British actor Patrick Stewart.

It will also be directed by James Mangold, who previously worked with Hugh on The Wolverine in 2013...

Hugh Jackman Teases Villainous Returns and Angry Episodes For Final 'Wolverine' Movie

Before he hangs up the unbreakable claws of Fox's Wolverine, Hugh Jackman might bring one last piece of the Marvel Entertainment character's core comic mythology to the big screen — as well as, perhaps, the return of a particular villain with close ties to the seemingly indestructible hero.

Talking on the Sydney Confidential podcast, Jackman spoke about some popular suggestions in response to his recent call for ideas for the final Wolverine movie, currently scheduled for a 2017 release. Two ideas came up repeatedly, he said.

First, he revealed, there were "lots of calls for Victor Creed to come back," referring to the villain better known as Sabretooth — arguably the hero's arch-nemesis in comic book mythology, and a character who has appeared in both 2000's X-Men and 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, played by Tyler Mane and Liev Schreiber, respectively.

Secondly, he said, "the words 'berserker rage' came up a lot. If you know Wolverine, you'll understand." For comic book fans, that term refers to something that hasn't really happened for the movie version of the character — a moment in which the animalistic side of Wolverine takes over in the heat of the moment, leaving a savage, violent mindless creature that's as dangerous to friends as foes.

With the third solo Wolverine movie rumored to be a version of the comic book "Old Man Logan" storyline, which sees an aged version of the character having to fight his way across a post-apocalyptic world ruled by supervillains, it's possible that both Creed and a savage Wolverine could find their way into the finished product. After all, if Wolverine is destined to go out in a blaze of glory in the new movie, what better way to send him off in angry style?
