During an appearance on Tuesday night’s Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon pointed out Schreiber’s reply to Jackman’s tweet and asked him if he was indicating he was returning as Sabretooth in Wolverine 3.

Schreiber said, “People have surmised that from my tweet, but I wasn’t. I was really just saying is that something I have to do as I get older. Is that how I approach middle age? Like that.”

Then, Fallon asked Schreiber if he would be willing to come back for Wolverine 3. Schreiber replied, “Well, what I heard was... I don’t know if I’m invited,” said Schreiber. “But I heard that the storyline is Old Man Logan. And when I heard that, I thought, ‘Well, you know there’s Old Man Logan, there could be Old Man Sabretooth.’”

Hugh and Liev have great chemistry -- you could feel the brotherly regard underneath the seething anger of Jimmy towards Victor



But what would be fascinating is to see both fine theatre actors in a great stage play together -- maybe a classic?

Re a 2-man duo, I automatically think of BECKET and WAITING FOR GODOT. I can think of a couple of musicals, too, but I don't think that genre is in Liev's bailiwick.

How about comedy -- er...Hugh as Oscar and Liev as Felix or vice versa in The Odd Couple. LOL- I think If Hugh takes on the Felix role, he might get typecast on stage

Shakespeare? Hugh could be Brutus and Liev could be Marc Anthony or vice versa? Hey, why does spell-check keep changing Liev to Live?? LOL!

A pity if their screen chemistry cannot be adapted for a live play!

So why is Patrick Stewart playing a neo-Nazi skinhead leader in the low-budget TIFF Midnight Madness thriller Green Room?

Two reasons. His character is not named Jean-Luc Picard. Nor is he named Charles Xavier.

And yet, he reveals he has agreed to give the latter another go.

“It had become plain to me, as I saw the kind of scripts I was being sent and the projects that were being put forward to me, that I was still perceived as essentially a combination of two characters, (Star Trek: The Next Generation’s) Jean-Luc Picard and (X-Men’s) Charles Xavier.

“Now I don’t think you have too many franchises in a career. But those roles have covered so many years, since 1987, and they’ve even overlapped. And I’m not either of those guys at all.”

In the much buzzed-about Green Room – written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier and co-starring another, newer Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin – a down-on-its-heels punk band accepts a gig at a sketchy skinhead bar in the country. Something happens, things go south fast, and the punks and skinheads are soon at war with slavering killer pitbulls and guns. The club’s Green Room stands as both holding cell and sanctuary.

Stewart – who plays homicidal skinhead boss Darcy Banker – admits he’s been a bit jealous over the years as colleagues and friends like Malcolm McDowell and Anthony Hopkins have had the opportunity to indulge their dramatic villainy muscles.

But he’s not done with superhero movies yet. Stewart confirmed he’ll have a role as mutant-mentor Professor Xavier in the next Wolverine movie, though he was careful about giving details.

“I have gotten into trouble for saying too much about it. But there is a project with Wolverine. It’s early days. But I’m very excited about it. I love working with Hugh Jackman.

“James Mangold (Walk the Line, The Wolverine) is writing and directing it, and it’s an exciting project. I’m very lucky. I’m so f---ing lucky I can’t believe it sometimes.”

Towards the end, he is asked about WOLVERINE 3. He says that he has only just gotten the script and is still unsure of when it is coming out ( hmm...it has been penciled for a March 2, 2017 release date by FOX) -- they have enough time. Will they film in Australia?

Gambit has once again lost its director... James Mangold, on the other hand, not only directs Wolverine 3 but also co-writes the script so his commitment is more solid. Plus he already has the credentials due to the fairly good critical and fanboy acclaim of The Wolverine.

While the X-Men franchise is showing no signs of slowing down as X-Men: Apocalypse is on the horizon, the next Wolverine movie is shaping up to be something special. Hugh Jackman has expressed reluctance to return as the character in the past, but this time he came out with supreme confidence to announce that this follow-up to The Wolverine is, without doubt, his last time playing the character. So, naturally, there are some sky-high expectations to see how he’s gonna go out given that Jackman’s portrayal of the mutant is undoubtedly iconic.

We know that Patrick Stewart will be appearing in the film alongside Jackman as Professor X, and Jackman is currently developing the script with The Wolverine helmer James Mangold, who is expected to return and direct. But beyond that, very little is known about what’s in store for fans with this third standalone Wolverine movie.


So when Steve sat down with Jackman recently at the press day for the Peter Pan reimagining Pan, in which Jackman plays the villainous pirate Blackbeard, the conversation veered into Wolverine territory. As for an update, Jackman says they’re about halfway through the script and revealed that the story will delve into the relationship between Wolverine and Professor X:

“I’ll be really honest with you, the actual script in its full form we’re up to about Page 60. Obviously there’s a treatment, so it’s not fully done yet, we’re not fully there. Patrick does figure in it that’s for sure. I think it’s a really important relationship but I want to see signs of that quasi-father/son sort of relationship that has not been seen before, and sides of particularly Professor X that have not been seen before. So we have some really, really cool ideas.”

This is actually pretty great, as it brings the story full-circle from when Professor X first found and mentored Wolverine in the first X-Men movie. It’s also exciting to hear that care is being given to further fleshing out Xavier instead of just using him as “another mutant” to put alongside Wolverine.


But while things are moving full-steam ahead, Jackman cautioned that he’s being very careful with ensuring that this lives up to expectations, saying he won’t officially sign off until he’s sure the script is just right:

“I’m saying ‘but’ and I’m sounding a little cagey because this is the last time I’m playing him, and I have just made the commitment to myself, really, and told everyone that until that script is perfect, until it is that perfect way to sign out, I’m not gonna start shooting. So that’s why I don’t wanna say ‘Yes’ for sure, because until Page 115, 120, whatever it is…”

That being said, Jackman says the outline that they came up with is 90% to where he wants it to be, so the finished script only needs a bit more work to get it to where Jackman feels comfortable:

“I feel that I’m pushing harder than I’ve ever pushed before. I suppose the stakes just go up when you announce before your last season that this is your last season, you don’t want one game to not be your best… People ask me, ‘How are you gonna be able to let it go?’ To me the only way you can let it go is if you left blood every day on the studio floor.”

But while Jackman is hesitant to say “Yes” until things are just right, he confirmed that the plan is for shooting to start next year, adding that he’s known how he wants to end his tenure as Wolverine for a long time:

“The ultimate plan is let’s start shooting next year… I’m starting the training, I’m starting the eating and mentally really preparing for it. It’s not just me, the studio as well—I’m trying to do something with this that’s a little special, a little different. I’ve got a very, very strong idea of what that is. I really have known for quite a long time how I want to finish this sort of odyssey that I’ve been on, this amazing journey. And I won’t let it fall anywhere in between. I won’t fall short of it.”

Steve also asked the actor if they’d be returning to Australia for production, where they shot The Wolverine, but Jackman says they haven’t nailed down the location just yet:

“Possibly. They do [have great soundstages], and the dollar’s being nice right now. That is one of the things that is up in the air a little bit, not 100% sure where we’ll shoot. And that’s part script, part life, family life and all of that.”

So if everything goes according to plan and the script comes out just right, this next Wolverine movie will be in production next year for release hopefully sometime in 2017, though maybe 2018 if the development takes a bit longer.

It looks like Prof Xavier ( Patrick Stewart) will definitely rejoin him in this last saga with Hugh as Wolverine. Hugh has mentioned earlier that James Mangold and his co-scriptwriter have already sent him the close-to-final script ( for possible more tweaking).

I guess he is still trying to work out the negotations on the tax credits so the movie can film in Australia. It is only end-September, so they have a few months left to refine the script, start the casting process, and finalize the filming location...and to put his body into W0LVERINE-SHAPE!

1. HIS HAIR. We all notice the hair. I'm sure someone could pull off that hair but it would be like they were stealing part of Hugh Jackman, not wolverine. Please fox, give us a memorable, devastating death that'll leave us crying and thinking or weeks.

2. HE LOOKS THE PART. His stance, his hair, his voice: I mean seriously, if he wasn't so sweet he'd be Logan. Every actor I've considered personally for the role only has one of those. Only a couple had the stance and a few had the hair. My personal preference would be Henry Cavill just because he's a great actor and knows how to be a superhero. But of course he's busy being the savior of the world not some reckless bum from 19th century Canada.

3. HE IS THE PART. When he's on screen, he's one with wolverine. The anger, the eyebrows, and the clipped humor sets his whole personality and it's a thing only Jackman can pull off. I don't want to see anyone else do an epic fail at the eyebrows. Even if they get it down, can they do the nose thing simultaneously?

4. WE ALL LOVE HIM. He's a great actor. He's in family movies, superhero movies, romance movies, and Broadway plays. Was this guy sent from heaven because I don't know anyone that can be a young maiden's love interest one second and an angry beast the second. We all love him as wolverine and most of us would agree he's the only Logan this world will ever see.

5. HIS. On and off screen, he has his own character. On screen in particular, he always has this look like the past is stuck in the front of his brain. It's Hugh's Wolverine's past not anyone else's. I don't want anyone to come in and pretend to be someone that's looked and acted different for the past 15 years.

I'm definitely hoping for the epic death in Wolverine 3 but I know it's probably not going to happen. Whatever happens, I'm hoping for the best and I'll try to be content with X-Men: Apocalypse and Wolverine 3. What are your thoughts?

The next X-Men film is stated to begin filming in 2017 with production to kick off November of 2016.

Word comes from The Montreal Journal offering the city will be the location of a third X-Men movie following X-Men: Days Of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse.

No specific details about the new X-Men movie are known, but it is stated Bryan Singer will be returning (translated via Bing).


The team of X-Men - led once again by Director Bryan Singer - will open its offices in production in November 2016 for a shoot in 2017.

*Singer had previously indicated that APOCALYPSE may be his last XMEN film...and there was buzz that he had already signed up for another non-XMEN movie for his next project, so his return is totally unexpected.

*In all the publicity, APOCALYPSE has been indicated as the closing episode for the FIRST CLASS Trilogy, so that storyline is no longer likely.

*If I recall right,there was a previously announced XMEN film project which was on the FOX announced slate, but no details had been given. I think this was supposed to be an adaptation of X-FORCE, but...

I am not familiar with X-FORCE, but the fanboys seem to imply that the storyline could include Wolverine...or that he could be Cable himself? Other speculations are : Crossover with Marvel...or a complete Reboot? Maybe a reboot featuring all the young mutants?

*If the movie includes Wolverine, fans are speculating that Hugh Jackman may have been convinced to delay his farewell to the franchise until this one ( with Wolverine 3 becoming his penultimate Wolverine movie), especially because of the box office debacle of CHAPPIE and PAN. No basis for the speculation at the moment, just fans trying to envision what could be the theme and characters involved.
