There has been positive early word, per Brit columnist Baz Bamigboye -- But it is probably more of an adroit move -- because CAPTAIN AMERICA:The Civil War is scheduled for a May 1 release, although the new release date of April 1 for EDDIE pits the movie with BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, due to be released a week earlier on March 25 together with a sequel to MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING. Also, maybe FOX does not want to have the movie getting too close to the release of APOCALYPSE ( May 27). It is going to be pretty crowded during the early 2016 summer season for blockbusters -- but let's hope EDDIE is a gem of a movie that can be a surprising crowd pleaser. Maybe audiences may want a bit of respite from superheroes Jo

I wonder why Box Office Mojo classifies EDDIE THE EAGLE as a DRAMA ( and they are usually precise in their classifications)? The early project description referred to the screenplay as a sports comedy, although later reports said that Hugh will play the role of a former skiing star who had a burnout problem and who came to coach "Eddie" to his Olympic spotlight. Will the introduction of Christopher Walken ( who is supposed to play Bronson Peary's own mentor) into the film project be an indication that the background story to Peary is going to be expanded?
Hope we hear more on the storyline soon!

Great and unexpected news According to Brit showbiz columnist, Baz Bamigboye -- Since that is a Gary Barlow composition, it is likely going to sound pop! OfficialOMD - does it stand for Original Music D(?) ?? I did find one meaning of the acronoym that may also work -- Online Music Distribution? Can't wait to hear it! Hopefully, it will be released way ahead of the movie, as in now Jo

When he performed in Turkey for his one-man show, he sang a song from GREATEST SHOWMAN to introduce one of his upcoming film projects ( the show is of course all about him and his career ) . I wonder - will he do the same for EDDIE THE EAGLE in Australia Jo

OMD: www.omd.uk.com/The guy on the left looks like Hugh's double. Isn't it one of his brother-in-laws?

He seems to be wearing the lower part of a ski-jumping suit. Maybe it is Taron Egerton ( the build and height look like him)? Also, Hugh's listed stunt double is Joel Conlan (per IMDB)- I don't think that is Hugh's brother in law. The one who has done double-work for him is Richard Bradshaw who is married to one of his sisters. I am not sure if his other brother in law also does the same kind of work... The stunt double is probably another one who is skilled in ski-jumping, in case Hugh has scenes of that nature.

I can't remember the original source of the above photo, but there is a new tweet which identifies the person other than Hugh and director Dexter Fletcher as Taron --

The film release in the USA has been moved to an earlier date. It will now be released on February 26, 2016. Per Box Office Mojo -- www.boxofficemojo.com/schedule/?view=bydate&release=all&date=2016-02-05&showweeks=4&p=.htmIt is going against 4 other WIDE RELEASES ( Gods of Egypt/Kidnap/Triple 9/The Witch). In the past, burying a movie in deep winter was not really a good sign...also this release date is fairly close to the Oscars, in which case there will be added interest in Oscar-nominated or winning movies at the box office. But lately, studios are now using practically the whole year to release tentpoles. DEADPOOL, which is getting strong buzz, is slated for release by FOX on February 12. Note that WOLVERINE 3 is also penciled in for release on March 3, 2017 ( and that promises to be a real blockbuster!). Last year, American Sniper raked in at the box office despite its deep winter release. At least EDDIE THE EAGLE will not have to contend with the spillover effect of BATMAN VERSUS SUPERMAN and the coming release of CAPTAIN AMERICA. So, we'll see! Jo

Hmm... is this a scene from the movie -- maybe the British delegation on the way to the Calgary Olympics in 1988? Is that Bronson Peary in the blue jeans?? Just guessing From filming scenes -- Same costume for Bronson Peary. Jo

Reactions from film sites and media re the screening of EDDIE THE EAGLE for BNAT17. BNAT stands for the film festival called BUTT-NUMB-A-THON organized by Harry Knowles of AICN. This is the 17 edition of the festival.

More from Devin Faraci ( how can I ever forget that beautiful review of THE FOUNTAIN and of Hugh's portrayal, when many people were scratching their heads then ??) --- Now, that sounds really intriguing

Taron was at BNAT and was presumably asked about Hugh Jackman's arms ( I have no idea in what context the question was popped ) -- LOL!
