Why do people only want to box in certain talented actors. Someone posted a tweet to the effect that said "Hugh Jackman is a tragic case". "He was presumably meant for musicals but was boxed in by superhero movies instead...and that, sadly, he was only able to do 2 film musicals (LesMis&Greatest Showman)" -- Sorry, I could not reproduce his original tweet as he has blocked me ...presumably after seeing my replies. Here are my replies -- Hugh Jackman is the best example of an actor with very strong acting and performing skills. It seems some would like to box him in instead. That is not easy to appreciate, given what we have seen of him. Jo

Many people mistakenly say that the physical characteristics of the comicbook Wolverine should be the correct template for the film. But Hugh Jackman, defying the physical attributes of the comicbook Wolverine ( short, brusque, not good-looking) introduced a film Wolverine that is a far cry, but making sure that he retained the wry, sarcastic, comedic and badass attributes. And people fell in love with his Wolverine, allowing him to interpret the role in all the movies of the franchise which required Wolverine's presence... He is even going to enter the MCU franchise presumably with the same acting persona.

A good number seem to agree with the acting comment above.
Glad to note that people agree that Hugh Jackman has excellent acting ability.

There have been quite a few tweets/"X"posts claiming that Hugh Jackman only wants to be in a musical.
One of them --

I posted this quote on Hugh's Instagram/"X" photos showing him being cleaned up after completing one of his most major projects ( Deadpool & Wolverine) -- I hope he will read it:
“No actor ever feels as if he’s forever good. Even when he works well and knows it’s good, he feels tomorrow it won’t be. The actor has a built-in broken heart, which helps him to understand, but doesn’t help him win. There’s no actor who looks like a banker at the end of life. He looks distinguished, but not as if he’s won. The actor pays a price, and that price is his heart.” —Stella Adler
Stella Adler is one of the most famous acting teachers ever!

In Hugh's case, the fact that he continues to seek roles in different genres and different types of roles seems to suggest that he believes excellence can only be reached with his personal intellectual curiosity approach to seek a role that continues to challenge. I was lucky to have received a reply from him once...and it referred to his approach to acting. Jo

While watching Hugh Jackman sing Bring Him Home -- these thoughts come to mind: Hugh Jackman's acting portfolio has been remarkably marked by some of his best interpretations of what being a father meant! *In Les Miserables, he discovers the epiphany of love through his newly-adopted daughter in "Suddenly". The same love would make him weary ( and jealous) that the young man Marius would take her away...but later on realizes that life without Marius would be devastating for his beloved daughter. He sings of his troubled mind... and later on pleads with God to spare the young man in Bring Him Home. *In Prisoners, we see a father near-deranged when his daughter went missing. His desperation bordering on near-insanity reaches its peak in the hammer scene in the movie. But then we see his deep feelings at her loss... when he sees the bloodied sock of his daughter - his body trembles and tears well up in his eyes. *In Logan, he discovers the love of a daughter and finds peace as he dies. The most beautiful dying scene in many a movie. *In The Son, he is both a father and a son. He is desperate to help his adolescent son troubled by depression. He relives his own growing up experience with his selfish father. But he also did not realize that by trying not to act like his father he is not able to understand or appreciate what is leading his son to depression, that he himself has caused it when he makes him a child of divorce. *In The Music Man, Harold Hill softens and draws out a young boy devastated by the loss of his father to a happier frame of mind, with the promise of a band that draws out the love of music & a spanking new uniform. But the most telling was the scene of the two gone fishing, as they whisper inanities to each other! Jo

Does Hugh Jackman bring luck and further fame to directors/auteurs he has worked with?
*Darren Aronofsky (The Fountain) - now an auteur for films with unusual subjects coupled with strong portrayals
*Chris Nolan (The Prestige) - even more famous now as an acclaimed director
*Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners) - another acclaimed auteur now
*Shawn Levy (Real Steel... soon Deadpool & Wolverine) - nominated for Best Director by the Directors Guild of America
*Cory Finley (Bad Education) - won an Emmy for the film as Best TV Movie
Already Oscar/Emmy/Tony winners when Hugh worked with them --
*Florian Zeller (The Son)
*Tom Hooper (Les Miserables)
*Jerry Zaks (The Music Man)
Hopefully, one of them or a new one will bring the luck to Hugh Jackman so he can be recognized with an Oscar!
