The article is in German, but the headline says it all -- top.de/news/2TuD-hugh-jackman-standing-ovations-film-eddie-the-eagleHugh is used to standing ovations, I wonder if this is a rare one for Taron, as standing ovations in cinemas are rare occurences. It is a sad that in the USA, the movie (while getting critical praise and very positive word of mouth) has only reached slightly below $ 15 million in three weeks of release. Hope it does so much better overseas! Jo

The first video clip of the Gaston sing-off has been taken down, but it was replaced -- This one is actually slightly better because it is extended a few seconds, enough for us to see Hugh tip his beer tankard to Luke... and then to see him acknowledge Luke as a worthy Gaston! It is like Colm handing over the candlesticks to Hugh Jo

The clip is getting miles of media coverage... and tweets and tweets. It looks like not too many are aware that Hugh was once Gaston

It's also a new calling card to remind movie audiences that Hugh also does movie musicals, apart from being Wolverine and being a dramatic actor.
Beauty and the Beast is released on March 17, 2017 ( two weeks after WOLVERINE 3) and nine months before THE GREATEST SHOWMAN is premiered! Will both movies compete for awards glory for the year 2017?

Collider.com is showing its bias for Hugh They'd like to recast Hugh for the role of Gaston, even if they say Luke's baritone is impressive collider.com/beauty-and-the-beast-luke-evans-gaston-hugh-jackman/From one of the feedbacks -- Was that providential that Hugh got cast as Gaston, instead of The Beast, as he probably got more exposure and notice in the villain role than if he had hidden his face behind a mask? Btw --

The photo attached to the video was from the more recent meeting with Aussies at Buckingham Palace ( including Aussie Hugh and half-Aussie Tom Hooper) with The Queen, before filming for Les Miserables took place. Hugh was talking about meeting The Queen after the HEY, MR. PRODUCER Concert ( a concert tribute to Cameron Mackintosh) and where Hugh sang OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNIN'. The event in June 1998 preceded the opening of OKLAHOMA! at the Royal National Theatre. The Queen must have been impressed with Hugh's performance Jo

Hugh, Taron, and Dexter also went to PARIS for EDDIE <cheer>
Here's an upload of a partial Q&A, probably before the screening --
Taron always make it a point to mention his admiration for Hugh as an actor and mentor!

Thanks to the diligence of Taron fans -- we get the full clip of the JONATHAN ROSS SHOW episode! Watch it smiley-happy036 It is a very funny show - Jonathan can certainly host a show ( Sorry, Jimmy F!) -- gettopical.com/taron-egerton/92b627361801e312e907b9fcc958e28f?src=twitter*It seems the Hugh-unbuttoning- the- shirt moment had nothing to do with Wolverine *Taron has the funniest facial expressions ( including the embarrassing ones). And it seems he did portray LeFou in some previous Beauty and the Beast incarnation ( RADA days, maybe?). *The lady comedian had such excellent comedic timing. And Hugh is shown paying full homage to Luke's take on Gaston (Which is the admirable attitude when one professional sees someone taking over one's role -- unlike some musical theatre purists that I know smiley-rolleyes010 ). Loved how Hugh pronounces Gaston as a French name! Beauty and the Beast, like Cinderella, is a French fairy tale Enjoy! Jo

Re the at-home streaming debate, Taron has had one fairly successful movie, KINGSMEN. He hasn't yet (well, maybe, if EDDIE doesn't strike fire in global box offices) experienced having a poor reception to a film's theatrical run, no matter how successful it may be later on home video. Yet both do make good points; it is always ideal to have a shared experience. But sometimes the "ideal" is not attainable. We'll see how/if this new development plays out.

Nor has he any big movie ( especially a passion project)which hash been pirated? Piracy is encouraged when people who have no choice or chance to see the movie in cinemas are unable to access legal streaming at the same time that the movie is released at a theater.

Pain au chocolat -- I just had them yesterday ( "Eric Kayser" from Paris sells them here). They are my favorite French breakfast pastry, even if my health issues do not encourage that I eat them often C'est delicieux ! Jo

Western Europe is on strictly high alert now because of what happened in Belgium.
Keep safe, Hugh and Taron -- if you are still there for EDDIE.

It looks like their probable last stop will be Australia - both Melbourne and Sydney.
The premieres will be post-Easter weekend!

They are sending video messages to places they couldn't visit, to come see EDDIE THE EAGLE. I do remember that some of the stunt ski-jumpers during filming came from Eastern Europe -- so maybe this is the reason why they are also trying to reach out to that part of the world? At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if "Eddie" and "Bronson" do write a travelogue together Jo
