Nah- when I start writing " Hu..." or "Hi...", somehow the fingers seek the letters "g" and "h" or " u"to follow. Conditioned response Or muscle memory ( too many posts on "HUGH" from moi on this forum -- just too many!) Jo

Am posting another article with a H-U-G-H ( carefully typed, this time ) mention once again. www.film-news.co.uk/news/UK/36770/Hugh-Jackman-s-tiny-Eddie-the-Eagle-shooting-windowThat was the time after Hugh had a short break after THE RIVER. Some projects did and did not materialize for the second half of 2015, if I recall right -- *the possibility of some role in XMEN : APOCALYPSE ( which started filming that summer - as it turned out, the script did not include any WOLVERINE participation) *the start of filming of GREATEST SHOWMAN ( postponed to the following year?) *sign-up for COLLATERAL BEAUTY ( from which he dropped off - conflict on filming schedule) *promotion of PAN ( on schedule!) Second only to a recent Bond opening! Pretty good. Maybe it should have opened in England first. That might have planted a keen desire in people in disparate countries to see the movie.

I also thought that was how it should have been done. It is a British story after all, even if the appeal of the film seemed universal because of the theme.
Interestingly, it was supposed to have opened in America much later - if I recall right, a week before Batman vs Superman ( March 25) originally...but it was moved forward to February 26. Fox did mount a strong campaign - Superbowl ad, Sundance premiere, appearances in other cities for Hugh and Taron, special screenings, etc... The critics were generally impressed ( 79% at Rotten Tomatoes) and the first viewers were impressed ( Cinemascore of "A").
Hmm....

Other reports from Deadline --
Btw, Box Office Mojo reports that its first 10-day take in China was close to $ 1 million.

For international buyers, if you have a multi-region player ( or strictly Region 2 format), the prices of the DVD and the BluRay Disc are so much cheaper on Amazon-UK.
I wonder if prices have been calibrated to reflect expected box office results for the movie and therefore assume a certain forecast for demamd for the DVD/BluRay. It seems it is going to be a box office success in the UK.

How disappointing. Not the movie, but the fact that I didn't get a chance to see it. They showed it for only ONE WEEK in only a handful of cinemas, and with only one showing per day, at 2:30 in the afternoon, at 8:30 pm in a couple of places way across town. Why would the studio wear Hugh out (and Taron, too) sending them all over the world to promote the film and then only pay to have a VERY limited release? How stupid is that? Alma

Foxie, I'm south of the border in a pretty big city. The papers rated Eddie as "Good" with 3 out of 5 stars. The latest movies from Chris Hemsworth, George Clooney or Bradley Cooper are playing ALL afternoon/evening long in many cinemas, even though they are rated 2 out of 5 stars. So I'm pretty sure it was a studio decision to severely limit the release down here. Bummer. Very unfair box office comparisons that way. Alma
