"The die is cast" Husband and wife Ruben and Janet Nepales are Filipino-American journalists based in LA. Ruben was once Chairman of the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn which hosts the GOLDEN GLOBES. Janet was the one who interviewed Hugh for the LOGAN New York media day ( and reported that Hugh came from an overnight filming session for SHOWMAN). Was a screening given to Golden Globes press ? Golden Globes nominations are due out on December 11. 2017. Also, Dec. 4, 2017 is Final screening date for motion pictures submitted for GGlobes consideration. If this were simply an advance screening for all movie press people -- isn't it a bit too early since the premiere won't be till December 8? So, it is likely for Golden Globes consideration, if I am not mistaken. Jo

It looked like a festive air for the screening of THE GREATEST SHOWMAN -- Mr. Nepales is wearing a very tall top hat...and one can see plumes and a regular top hat on the chair/table of probably the Golden Globes press people?
In the Instagram photo post, another member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn who comes from Australia responded to the image post.

In the LA Press event, according to the blogger who was invited to the event, they only showed four clips ( mostly musical parts, without being spoilery). Here's a before-presentation coverage -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YMIRxgoo6s&feature=youtu.be&a=It looks like the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn event was the day or hours ahead of this one.

Pasek & Paul remind me of some of my students when I taught elementary school music. They're so talented, cute, and enthusiastic!

The competition for BEST ORIGINAL SONG can be stiff, given the credentials of the creatives and performers involved -- Best Original Song “HOME” — FERDINAND Music by: Nick Jonas, Justin Tranter, Nick Monson Lyrics by: Nick Jonas, Justin Tranter Performed by: Nick Jonas “MIGHTY RIVER” — MUDBOUND Music by: Raphael Saadiq Lyrics by: Mary J. Blige, Raphael Saadiq, Taura Stinson Performed by Mary J. Blige “REMEMBER ME” — COCO Music by: Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez Lyrics by: Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez Performed by Miguel with Natalie Lafourcade “THE STAR” — THE STAR Music by: Mariah Carey, Marc Shaiman Lyrics by: Mariah Carey, Marc Shaiman Performed by Mariah Carey “THIS IS ME” — THE GREATEST SHOWMAN Music by: Benj Pasek, Justin Paul Lyrics by: Benj Pasek, Justin Paul Performed by Keala Settle The unique advantage of THIS IS ME is its anthemic nature, its theme of inclusion and acceptance, and the how it helps advance the story in THE GREATEST SHOWMAN! I can't find where I first posted the article ( it was published only a few days back) -- but an article on Keala and THIS IS ME was written for a Philippine newspaper by Filipino-American journalist Ruben Nepales. Mr Nepales was the Chairman of the HFPA in 2012, when Hugh and Les Miserables won the Golden Globes at the end of that year. Maybe it is a good omen that Mr. Nepales chose to focus on Keala and her song in the movie...and maybe he can spread the word around among his co-HFPA members entertainment.inquirer.net/253548/keala-settle-remember-name

With all my cable news channels reporting on the scary attempted terror attack near the Port Authority Bus Terminal this morning, I didn't hear anything about the Golden Globes nominations until shortly ago.
First off, fortunately the injuries to the three innocents affected are. according to reports, not major. The Port has reopened, although most subway lines are bypassing 42nd Street.
Now for the good stuff: So happy HJ got his well-deserved nomination. I think his biggest competition might be Daniel Kaluuya. We''ll see. The list of musical/comedy films has some very competitive titles. I have a feeling I,TONYA and LADY BIRD may be in the lead.
"This is Me" stands a pretty good chance, I think. Its theme will resonate well with the GG voters.

So glad that the Port Authority injuries are not major. My very first trip to NYC was by bus from California into the Port Authority.
The Golden Globes competition is tough. Am I too optimistic to think that Hugh may get a break because he's given two major outstanding performances this year? It doesn't work that way, of course, but one can hope.

Is this Hugh's way of saying THANKS to the two creative minds who were there practically from the start of the meaningful phase of the long journey to completion -- http://instagram.com/p/BclQJD-jVPa Pasek and Paul persevered - writing and rewriting until Gracey ( and probably Hugh) knew they had something really good in their hands. Pasek and Paul probably facilitated the participation of many topnotch Broadway talent during the many workshops and including the famous February 2016 reading that secured the GREENLIGHT from Fox! Pasek and Paul were always there during the studio recording of the score and during the filming of the movie, according to one clip that has been publicized. And this was during the time that they were also very busy putting on the finishing touches to their massive Broadway hit and Tony winner DEAR EVAN HANSEN! Jo

Yes, it was a scary morning. My husband was on his commuter bus en route to the Port Authority when it happened. My children travel the subways every day. Mad world. Anyway, speaking of mad, how annoying is it that so many "Golden Globe Snub" reports bemoan the lack of Wonder Woman and not the better movie of the genre, Logan? So glad that the Port Authority injuries are not major. My very first trip to NYC was by bus from California into the Port Authority. The Golden Globes competition is tough. Am I too optimistic to think that Hugh may get a break because he's given two major outstanding performances this year? It doesn't work that way, of course, but one can hope.

My sentiments exactly regarding that major snub. LOGAN absolutely deserved recognition.

"Comedy and Musical" is still considered a subcategory to both Golden Globes and Oscars compared to best film and actor in a motion picture drama category. If he wins this award, it will be neither more nor less as another Tony Award. Hugh is stuck in clichés, the voters of the most prestigious film awards see him only as a Broadway dancer-singer, they are unable to appreciate his work by going beyond claws, growl and shirtless muscles, something that regardless is not taken into account as worthy of being awarded, except for the special effects category. Logan is too different from every predecessor, it must have made voters too perplexed by destabilizing their preconstructed concepts on this actor, probably they did not even know in which category to classify this movie. Moreover, in the Drama category, among the competitors there is Daniel Day Lewis. I don't need to mention the infamous Abraham Lincoln case...
