Nice photo but...just wondering why Hugh is the only one standing behind everyone else. Hanks and Oldman should have stepped to the side a few inches to accommodate. Maybe I'm reading more into it than warranted, but it seems like a subliminal message.

Ellen, i was thinking the exact same thing, but also thought maybe I was reading too much into it! Although it's blurry he appears to have his hand on Hank's shoulder, and maybe they figured he's tall- he'll show up! Maybe the message is -- out of nowhere comes this champion entertainer! He's standing right in the middle of the row, albeit a little to the back

Watching a bit of the GG pre-show. They asked two older women, die-hard fans who come to watch their favorites in person every year, whom they were most excited to see. One said Armie Hammer, the other HJ.

At least Best Actor went to James Franco and not to a role being supported by social justice issues!
Better luck next time for Hugh!

Now that he’s unfortunately lost, I noticed Hugh starting to eat, LOL. The camera caught him with what appeared to be cheeks full of food. I like that he’s a foodie. That was the highlight of the ceremony so far for me.
I wonder what he would have said in his acceptance speech. Guess we’ll never know. Sigh.

I think given the slating given by critics, their nominations ( and the win for THIS IS ME) are already vindication of their hard-earned artistic accomplishment! I am happy with that. Of course, a win for Hugh, would have been tremendous but the competition was tough from Franco. Probably the fact that the movie has been so well-received by audiences worldwide is already the real icing on the cake for Hugh!
When THIS IS ME won, it led me back to that time when Hugh argued with FOX about letting him introduce the song to the public in his Australian concert series! Hugh already knew they had a winner then!

A media outlet thinks or speculates that Hugh was very disappointed with his loss -- metro.co.uk/2018/01/08/hugh-jackmans-face-much-james-franco-wins-best-actor-2018-golden-globes-7211821/This is the video clip of the announcement, the speech of James Franco, and panning the audience while he was doing that ( including a brief glance at Hugh intently listening to what James was saying -- it doesn't seem to me that it was a look of intense disappointment...as the win by Franco was widely predicted... and Hugh is always very sporting in his reactions. It was likely that he was interested in the background of DISASTER ARTIST's long-gestating project, too. ) -- Someone tweeted the specific moment -- A lot of Hugh and Greatest Showman fans are incensed that Hugh did not win -- but that is life! As we know, Hugh even predicted Franco would win. Also, there's that earlier pan of him where he's CLAPPING while James is speaking. This shot is the visual equivalent of taking a quote out of context and it's "meming" all over twitter.
