This is probably the most difficult song to cover -- *It starts with the soft soliloquy *It goes on to the main song by the lead, from low to high baritone as the song progresses. *The chorus continues the song, increasingly going up the vocal range *The back-up singers also make a statement. Or if they simply use the song for a choreographic number -- it is also very challenging and very invigorating! That is why it is a fitting finale ( save for the epilogue phase of The Greatest Showman)...or an extaordinary eleven o'clock number of a show.! Jo

The movie continues to be a big hit in the British Isles...and the soundtrack album is skyhigh on the charts! Symbiosis at work!

I listened to this and feel that in all honesty, this is a travesty. It just isn't the way the song is meant to be sung.

Yes, the song FROM NOW ON needs the context that was in the movie. It cannot be sung as is, without reference as to what brought on the feelings of initial regrets and then the eventual triumphant feeling of realizing that he had what he wanted all along in front of him ( and in the house by the sea ). I have always felt that, like in a stage musical, this is the eleven o'clock number of the show! It is that moment when a key character summarizes the essence and impact of the events and circumstances that brought him to this point...and from there, he forms his way forward. To me, this is Barnum's epiphany moment, from where he proceeds to make the choices that his heart dictates! I am not surprised that many people who reacted to the number on YouTube say that to them, this is the most magical, the best and the most emotional song and moment in the whole movie. All the emotions are displayed so unabashedly in this scene...and the feeling of joy at the end is so contagious that one wishes one could dance with similar abandon...and run ( More like a 100-meter dash!) after a train while singing with lungs bursting! I have put off listening to this. Lol. I am on some level irrationally annoyed at Karimloo for covering this song. I listened to this and feel that in all honesty, this is a travesty. It just isn't the way the song is meant to be sung.

It just isn't the way the song is meant to be sung. I understand where isaruth and Jo's comments are coming from, however, I feel differently. As the old saying goes,"imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". I don't think this is any different to the numerous covers of other songs from the show. I saw K in a Broadway production of Les Mis and spoke to him at the stage door afterwards. Told him how much I enjoyed his version of "Bring Him Home" and that it was on a par with HJ's . He indicated he was a big fan of Hugh and was looking forward to meeting him at the Tonys. I found him to be a charming, friendly guy, cast in a similar mould to Hugh and in fact his voice , to me, is very similar. In this cover he has done, he also looks quite similar to Hugh, albeit he is much younger. In fact I will be attending his Sydney concert in June and really hope he performs this song.

There is no information from what album ( if there is one) this song cover is being released. Maybe if the theme is relevant to this song, it would seem to be a right choice. But if this is simply a one-song release, that brings up the speculation that he wants the part if it ever comes to Broadway ( which is not a remote possibility, because FOX itself has said a stage adaptation can happen). Talking of the song interpretation -- his cover does not appeal in the sense that, as I have earlier written, it has no context at all ( and what was the rooftop scenery all about - that belongs to A Million Dreams *just kidding* ). Is it a love song? Is it a song of regret and redemption - his facial and emotional expressions do not support that. He seems to be more laughing than being touched by his feelings. Maybe if he sang it in a concert, where he can give it some context ( related to the movie) and his acting out the song has improved, it will come out to be a more welcome cover. And he should work on his accent Just my 2 cents worth. Jo

I do remember that when SUDDENLY became part of the film adaptation of Les Miserables -- I remember that Michael Ball did a cover of the song early on. But it was likely that Mackintosh may have asked him to do the cover to help publicize the movie and the song ( which MB had also done for Andrew Lloyd Webber when Sunset Boulevard was released and he released the title song even before the cast recording was out). That was understandable because of his association with these two men in the London stage. Michael also sang as the original Marius in Boublil and Schonberg's Les Miserables. He also annotated the ceremonies when the Les Miserables world premiere was held in London (I do remember Eddie Redmayne bowing to him in respect, because Eddie dared to sing Empty Chairs at Empty Tables, a song for which Michael became first famous for) ...But when he released SUDDENLY, he also sang it as part of a suite of songs from musicals ( a staple in all his concerts) in his concert which followed. To give it a fresh flavor, he sang it more like a love song ( which resonated with some because I remember reading that someone wanted to hear the song at her own wedding, maybe at the processional part). This Is Me was also covered by Kesha early during the run of the movie, but it seemed that it was also part of the publicity thrust for THE GREATEST SHOWMAN as it was also released by Atlantic Records ( if I remember correctly). Maybe Ramin simply loved the song... and he does have quite a number of fans who would like him to take on new roles on stage. So the speculation remains that he is already presenting himself for the part if and when the stage adaptation becomes a reality. Maybe Ramin is auditioning for the first replacement cast If so, he had better start getting some dance lessons ( he has not shown this kind of skill in any of his stage roles) because the Barnum role is a killer part when it comes to dancing -- highly energetic, very precise, with strong sense of toe-tapping rhythm, and acting-oriented as well! It includes knee spins and knee slides! It almost demands athletic skills as much as dancing grace! But a Broadway transfer could still be quite a ways -- the movie has to be adapted for a practical stage performance first ( for one, how do you do the stage version of REWRITE THE STARS?) . By the time it comes, maybe Ramin would have already covered all the songs, including THIS IS ME ... If Keala ever lets him Jo

I know it is very early to be speculating about a stage transfer - but *I wouldn't mind if Raul Esparza considers a full return to Broadway and he is a replacement cast for the Barnum role. He can sing, he can dance ( I saw him in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), and he can also act ( see LAW AND ORDER : SVU...plus he has been involved in both musical and dramatic theatre). He just needs to smile a bit more *If Zac does not want to do a Broadway transfer or would want to leave after a limited engagement - how about Aaron Tveit ( who actually first read the part in the early workshops for the project) - he can dance, too ( I saw him in Catch Me If You Can). Some people are also keen on Jeremy Jordan maybe for the Philip role ( he can also dance -- see NEWSIES). *Keala says she will be keen to return to the part, if it goes to Broadway! Be warned! *Will Michelle be willing to reprise the role maybe for a short time? She did CABARET a few years back...and also returned to Broadway in a dramatic play. Would Kelli O'Hara consider the role? *As for the elephants and the lions -- Michael Gracey ( he seems to be keen to do the Broadway adaptation as well) says they can do puppetry ( as in War Horse and Lion King). I have a feeling that there are already many hopefuls from the Broadway community to get parts in a possible stage adaptation. Okay -- is Hugh doing another film project before this happens? Or maybe 2 -3 more? Jo

Not surprised that vocal talent reality shows will start featuring songs from THE GREATEST SHOWMAN --
Here's one - featuring THIS IS ME!
The song is a very popular choice...and that helps the singer gain audience attention a lot!
Loren Allred, who lent her vocal talent to NEVER ENOUGH, was a finalist in THE VOICE in the past.

It starts out ok, but then it gets a little pitchy and loses momentum. I am not musically-trained like you, Kathy, but I did get the same impression when I first heard it. Plus his accent was a little distracting for me. It was first featured on Broadway.com but since the clip was only available in the USA, I did not post it, until this upload on YouTube. www.broadway.com/buzz/191494/exclusive-watch-ramin-karimloos-thrilling-take-on-the-greatest-showmans-from-now-on/Here are some comments from that feature --
