ETA: When I go to my profile, I don't see a place to click on to select skin. The option to select a skin is not on your Profile page. When you get to your Profile page, you need to click MODIFY PROFILE. Duh! Thanks, I see it now! :-[ Nancy

Nancy, don't feel bad. I'm glad I can get on the board and off. I am technically challenged. Naveah and I are supposed to be gettig together soon to learn how to load pictures. She doesn't know what she's in for. Thank goodness we have Valerie. She knows how to keep everything straight, and can always help when we get into trouble

For those of you who are still getting used to this Board, I am responding here and not sending individual PMs. If one or two people are asking these questions there are probably a few more who will find this helpful. First let me say that this Board is set up the same way as The Red Board, with which many of you were familiar. The ACTIVE threads with the most recent posts are always automatically at the top of the list and individual posts on each thread are chronological from first to last (that's PAST to PRESENT). The first post on Page Number One is the initial post that started the thread; the highest Page Number contains the most recent additions to that particular topic. You look at the END of the thread to see the newest posts. You can do this by clicking the highest page number, which will bring you to the top of the current page, or by clicking the word "Today" which will open the LAST item posted on that thread. From the Home Page, I have clicked on "Hugh Jackman - NEWS" (our most active Category). I can see that three threads have had new posts added Today. They are the three threads at the top of the list. (If/when someone adds more news about Houdini, the "Houdini" thread will jump to the top of the list. This new post will appear on Page Number Five of the Houdini thread.) ... or, you can scroll down the Home Page and click to see the 50 MOST RECENT POSTS added to The Board. The most recent post will be first on the list, so you need to scroll down to the last thing YOU read and proceed UP the list of replies, all of which will appear chronologically regardless of topic. (I can raise this number to 100, if you think that would be helpful.) If this explanation is not clear to you, please ask more questions. I will do whatever I can to help. If you can describe the process of finding new posts better (for people who are having trouble "navigating" this new Board and feel they are "missing" things), please feel free to clarify or re-word this so everyone will be comfortable using our new Forum. Questions, comments, suggestions are always welcome.

Good job clarifying things Valerie. I do recommend that newbies use the 50 most recent link. It's the easiest way to keep up. I think that 50 is enough for now, but with 4 movies coming up and a Broadway show you may eventually have to up it to 100. I use it every day. I think I only went to the bottom of the 50 once since I started using it. That may have been because I was late getting here or maybe missed a day so other than that it's been fine.
Thanks for all your efforts on our behalf! :-* Sue

I'd like to also add my thanks to Valerie for her superb admin efforts. Cheers

I have tried to answer specific inquiries by replying to most of my PMs individually. Here is some more general information that may help clear broader questions. I think part of the problem we are having is semantics. Various people are calling the same things different names and it's getting a bit confusing as to just what we are talking about. I'm trying to get everyone "on the same page" about this, so I think it's best to keep the terms used by ProBoards since that's where we are and they make the "control panel" I use to deal with these things. THIS is our "FORUM" -- named "OZalots HQ" in honor of our old "home" on The Red Board which was started when Hugh did TBFO on Broadway in 2003. The whole, entire "message board" area - to which you have access when you arrive on the "Home" page is the OZalots' HQ Forum. Our FORUM has seven (7) CATEGORIES: General Hugh Jackman Members ONLY (accessible only when Logged In, and after a certain # of posts) The Boy From OZ Peter Allen Broadway Off Topic Some, but not all, CATEGORIES contain multiple BOARDS. "The Boy From OZ" Category has two (2) separate Boards - one to discuss the Broadway version and another dedicated to the Aussie Tour production. The "Hugh Jackman" Category has six (6) individual Boards at the moment, and I will add more when a new, significant project comes to the fore. [i.e. When Houdini is confirmed I will open a new Board dedicated to that show specifically and move old discussions (now in the "News" area) into the dedicated Board for that topic.] [Aside: I've been thinking that we could use a Wolverine BOARD (like the one for Les Mis) as info on that topic will be growing as we get closer to the opening. Would you like me to do that now?] Each BOARD contains multiple threads for discussions on different Topics concerning the specific subject of that Board which is a sub-division of its main Category. Any Registered Member (who is Logged In on the Forum) has the ability to start a new Thread. Only ADMIN (that's me) can create a new CATEGORY or add a new BOARD to an existing Category. Forum > Category > Board > Thread > Reply That's our basic hierarchy. BTW: Everyone/anyone can SEE our Forum - ALL of it - (except for that tiny Members ONLY section, and PMs of course). (...and, just FYI - According to the statistics on who "reads" here, "Strangers" outnumber Members by more than 10 to 1.) Registered Members can post and start new threads EVERYwhere. Non-members are allowed to post anonymously as a "Guest" on the GENERAL board only. (I did this so that anyone could ask us questions before they decided whether or not to join.) I hope this helps to sort out some of the confusion about the FORUM in general. Now, for those of you who still feel you are "missing" something -- " 50 most recent posts" - gives you, um... I don't know how else to say this - it gives you the fifty (50) "newest replies" made on The OZalots' HQ Forum without regard to category, board or thread. Whether it is General/Hugh/TBFO/Peter/Off Topic - it doesn't matter. Whatever the last 50 things are that were posted ANYWHERE on The Forum, that's what you will see, with the most recent [newest] addition [post] at the top of the list. You are NOT getting the ONE last post for each of fifty different individual threads - you can see this by looking at the name of the thread (title/topic/"headline") at the top of each individual Reply. In a relatively "calm" period, like this, we average about 20 new posts per day. When things get more "active" -- a movie opens or Hugh is on stage with a new show, I will increase the "Most Recent" quota to 100. If you don't like "jumping around" from one topic to another and back again as you scroll the list, you can always go directly to your favorite Board from the Home page. If you check this Forum every day or two, all the "new" stuff (ALL of it) will be contained in the list of Fifty Most Recent Posts. If a particular post in that list interests you, you can click on the Topic (thread/title/"headline") at the top of the specific post and it will take you directly to that particular Thread where you can read more ( older) posts on that specific subject. (But you are not going to find anything NEW there - it will only show you all the previous posts for that topic.) You can also access threads individually by going to a category and clicking on the subject that interests you. If there has been something new added in the past 24 hours you will see (in the far right column) Yesterday in bold face; if something has been added since midnight (US Eastern Time zone) you will see Today in bold face. Anything older than two days will have the DATE it was posted. I'm making myself dizzy trying to say the same thing in different ways so that one of them will make you shout "Eureka!" - but if you still don't "get" it, keep asking questions until you do. Everyone who shares our interests should be able to participate and enjoy this Forum.

Thank you again, Valerie!
Your efforts have been valiant, to say the least ;D
One suggestion - maybe you can consider two separate categories for his professional work? One for Movies and another for Theatre ( except of course for The Boy From Oz - because that is all where it started for this board) -- that is special. You may even want a third category ( Other Professional Performances although that is fairly rare -- such as Oscars hosting/Tonys hosting, the LasVegas/Wynn show/ Charity events/Documentaries such as Seed of Hope and The Burning Season). Within each major classification, you may want to decide how to break up the category?
And yes, a separate THE WOLVERINE board may be worthwhile creating. Maybe you can even start with the CHAT discussions scheduled on Oct 29.
Just a thought.

Jo, let's double check the semantics again.
Forum > Category > Board > Thread > Reply That's our basic hierarchy.
"Hugh Jackman" IS a Category. This Category has six Boards: News, Les Mis, Videos, Movies (prior to Les Mis), Back on Broadway and Photos.
I will add a new Board in the "Hugh Jackman" Category specifically for The Wolverine (and each successive "full scale" movie - not a bit part like Butter or a cameo like the X-Kids film). I intend to open a new Board (in the "Hugh Jackman" Category) for Houdini (and each play after that).
So, with regard to the hierarchy - Are you saying that you'd like to see three more Categories (HJ - Movies, HJ - Theatrical, and HJ "Other") in addition to the already existing "Hugh Jackman" Category... or you'd like me to make new Boards with those names IN the Hugh Jackman Category?
Is anyone else interested in more Categories, or more Boards within existing Categories? I need feedback from more than one person before I start making any significant changes.

Semantics - I probably got lost in the differences ;D But I think you really are in the best position ( assuming there are other comments) to decide what looks more orderly when we are looking to post or to read specific topics. Both the specific category/board and the hierarchy. Re Movies - he will have PRISONERS coming along, too. That is already being touted by some as having awards potential ( because of the script) and the casting. I think if MOVIES can be one broad category and each major movie where he is lead role, can be the smaller classifications. His work is mainly in movies, anyway. But it is up to you how to establish the hierarchy. Hope I did not further muddle what I said earlier Jo

Valerie, You are doing a magnificent job and I am very grateful for the effort you put in to it. The way things are now work well. If I were going to alter it at all since the whole forum is about Hugh, the categories would be: News, Photos, Movies, Broadway, Appearances. Then the boards say under movies could be every movie he's ever made. Under Broadway - All shows. Other than the top 50, this hierarchy might make it easier to find exactly the subject someone wanted to find.

Valerie, You're doing a great job. :-/ It sounds like it produces some headaches though, so I hope it gets easier as time goes by. I think a Wolverine board would be great. That way there could also be different Threads on X-Men movies and things related to that world. So I guess the first Thread would be called The Wolverine: Japan Saga or whatever the official title is at this point? A Prisoners Board will be good too and I think you're right that small, peripheral roles such as Butter don't need a separate board. Maybe that Movies (prior to Les Mis) Board could get a name change to Movies (prior to Les Mis & smaller roles) Maybe a Hugh On Stage Board could be a place for threads of all his different stage work... Whatever you think looks and works the best is really what will most likely work for all of us. I don't think any of us would object to your ideas for creating and organizing this Forum. We trust your judgement! Sue

We don't want anyone getting "lost" on the forum LOL! Whatever is the simplest setup is great. I like Jamie's idea above. All that you are doing for this forum is greatly appreciated! Thank you Valerie! :P

No, Kathy, you don't have to join to read this Forum (though I do have the option of making each Board visible/invisible to different "groups"). Everyone can read everything - except that small "Member ONLY" section. Members can start new Topics (threads) and Reply anywhere on any Board. Even non-members can post as "Guest" on the General Board. (I did that so anyone would be able to talk with us and ask questions before they decide if they want to register.) ...and while I'm (sort of) on the subject - (for those of you who might be inclined to post a bit too much personal info) - I'm going to say it again: ANYONE who just happens to wander by can read (almost) EVERYTHING on this Board.

I re-modified your Profile. The box says: Is your location currently observing daylight savings/summer time?
...and the answer, as of yesterday, is "No."
BTW: What's your translation of ETA? (Other than Estimated Time of Arrival)
