>>>Product Details Audio CD (December 24, 2012) Number of Discs: 1 Label: Republic ASIN: B00A80SHFM<<< It is only one disc so maybe it does not feature the complete libretto or score - maybe just the songs and some recitatives? If it gets shipped to you ( in the USA) early enough ( Amazon sometimes ships a day or so ahead of schedule) - you may end up singing Suddenly or Bring Him Home instead of Silent Night or Jingle Bells ;D But this is another nice Christmas present > Jo

Didn't Tom Hooper tease that "Suddenly" may be included in the finished movie, with a chance of 80% or did he say 90%? That is now 100% confirmed, based on the press release for the soundtrack album It was also submitted for Original Song to the awards bodies! Jo

Amazon has changed the release date to December 25, 2012. But my confirmed pre-order ( which I placed as soon as I found out about the pre-order alert because I know this is going to be very saleable and I do not want to be put too late on the shipping queue) -- says it is shipping on December 24, 2012.
Maybe they are encountering some logistics difficulties or have been told to coincide the release date with the movie release date itself?

I have Prime so usually pre-orders come the actual day that they arrive in stores. With the Christmas release I'll get it on the 26th. If they change the date to the 24th I'll probably get it then although with it being Christmas I could still get it the 26th. The good thing about pre-orders is that if they do reduce the price to compete with B&N I'll get the cheaper price. Fingers crossed on that! If I get it the 24th I'm not going to open it because I want to be surprised and amazed the next day when I see the movie! Unless they start showing a lot of the singing (Suddenly) in the promos during the next 5 weeks...if I hear a lot of the singing I'll go ahead and play the soundtrack. Just call me fickle & undecided

I wouldn't be able to keep from listening to it, birchie! You have more self control than me. I owned the soundtrack to 'Oklahoma!' for a year before getting the DVD. Same with 'The Boy From Oz'. It was fun knowing all the songs and trying to figure out how they all work together in the show. If Wal-Mart gets the CD in by its release day, I'll more than likely have it before I see the movie. And for someone who doesn't consider himself a 'singer' he's been featured on 4 soundtracks. More than most non-singers, I believe. - Alicia

I've sent a feedback to Amazon ( they do have a link for this, if you find a lower price) re the B&N pricing. Hope they respond positively and reduce their price ;D

Amazon changed the product page from "...movie soundtrack" to something like "highlights from the soundtrack" I decided to wait until they post something with the track listing. Funny thing is that I can't find any listing for it on Amazon at the moment. I went to see if the page heading had changed again but I tried every possible search term and it doesn't come up. I use Amazon a lot so this is a bit odd. I can't find my original link to see if that one still works. Is a puzzlement... Sue

Hi Jo, I just got that email today too. Do you think it's going to be everything or just part of it? The email was sorta cryptic saying it was "Soundtrack "Les Mis": Highlights From the Motion Picture Soundtrack 2012". It makes it sound like its not the entire score. What do you think? The good thing is it will be here on the 21st!! >

It is just a Highlights album; it is only one disc. Hugh's Who Am I is not even a part of it. And Do You Hear The People Sing is likely part of only the finale. Unthinkable when you are thinking of Les Miserables So, let's hope they will also issue a full-soundtrack album. Jo

The album has been released on iTunes - itunes.apple.com/us/album/les-miserables-highlights/id584102671. There's no previews on any of them, but I was on tumblr earlier scrolling through Hugh tags and there was a ton of posts with full length songs in them to listen to. I (barely) managed to listen to nothing but 'Bring Him Home' (I'm trying to wait until I see the movie) but they have 'Suddenly' and 'The Confrontation' and a few others on there as well. - Alicia

I have received an email from Amazon that my copies have shipped - but won't receive it till Dec 28 ( even if I opted for the fastest courier delivery - maybe it is the Christmas rush?)...but that is really just 7 days away.
I have just listened to the samplers for all the songs - Sigh - it looks like I am going to fall in love with it!
I won't be seeing the movie until January 16 -- so, this is going to be a great intro for me to the movie. People say it should be the reverse - but I simply C-A-N-N-O-T wait ;D

I listened to the whole thing. A strange edit in Look Down at the beginning... and a weird edit in At The End of The Day. I guess they were trying to fit more songs on the cd. I love it all but... Russell Crowe... He doesn't have the same emotion when he sings like everyone else. The orchestrations sound nice and loud - not like the clips that have been released.
FYI... If you don't choke up on Valjean's Soliloquy - you're dead!

I am just listening to the Highlights album...and even at this selection I am actually crying. I will be a crying mess at the theater.
Empty Chairs at Empty tables...I can´t wait to see it, also the Soliloquy *sounds* fantastic, I can´t wait to see it with all the acting Hugh obviously put into it.

I have a feeling that we are going to see a more introspective Javert in the movie ( hence the kind of singing that we have heard) as the story flows and as he gets to learn more of the transformed character of Valljean...
The forceful, unyielding Javert in our minds ( from all the stage productions, concerts, etc) is indelible...but maybe Russell, who is a consummate actor and with Hooper's agreement, decided to give us a different kind of Javert - not a villain but simply an antagonist who learned how to discern, unwillingly, at the end??

I don't think Javert is meant to be a villain, but an antagonist to Valjean. As someone said to Russell, Javert is more Old Testament (legalististic), and Valjean is more New Testament (redemption/forgiveness). I'm loving the highlights album. Soliloquy and Bring Him Home make me weep.
