They dropped the mask requirements almost 6 months ago. Some people still wear them but they are relatively rare now.

Papermill Playhouse is in New Jersey. I had seen one show there ( White Christmas) years back -- huge theatre!

Sometimes I have uncanny ways of remembering clips of memory from way back

In the tribute concert to Cameron Mackintosh in 1998, the finale was sung by all the participating performers, singing a very famous song from MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG.

Hugh Jackman was one of those. Unfortunately, he was only being introduced to London audiences then ( via "Oh What A Beautiful Mornin'") and did not line up on the front row.

on the front row are host Julie Andrews, Mackintosh himself, Michael Ball ( with the dimples & curly hair), Bernadette Peters, Lea Salonga, Angela Lansbury, Judi Dench, etc...

but if you pay good enough attention, at around '50" to '54", you can see a glimpse of Hugh Jackman (behind Michael Ball/JulieAndrews/BernadettePeters/CameronMackintosh) -- look for the guy with the brown suede vest ) singing "OLD FRIENDS"

She plays/sings Persephone in "Hadestown" (a retelling of the Greek myth of Odysseus&Eurydice). The other old friend HughJackman came to see was Phillip Boykin who plays Hades himself. Phillip was 1 of the barbershop quartet in HJ's recent B'way musical revival of TheMusicMan!

What??! "forged a close friendship" -- is media embellishing stuff again - hrrrmphhh.

Working in the theatre together -- she is not really a theatre actress but a singer who was brought in because the role of Persephone called for a strong pop singer. Check out the previous casting.

I've just read the review. The play is about 5 middle-aged/older women in a health retreat.

I’ve only seen one other Broadway show more than once. #mywindow is the other. @melissa_etheridge is raw emotion. All at once dramatic, funny and thought provoking. And then there’s her voice! Don’t sleep on seeing this show.

The other show was Dear Evan Hansen. The song "You Will Be Found" which resonates with his personal history from childhood.

There must be a song from Ms Etheridge that helps heal his soul.

Melissa Etheridge's GREATEST HITS album is subtitled "The Road Less Traveled" which is a favorite quote with Hugh, as that is likely symbolic of the path(s) one takes in life.
