And I seriously doubt that anyone will ever match the consistent quality of their output. Still my Number One band - 50+ years - and counting. Good on ya, Boys!

My High School BFF was at that Carnegie Hall show. I had to wait for Shea Stadium. FIVE dollar tickets! I think the souvenir books at Shea were a dollar. I still have them. GREAT photos! I don't think any musical performer - not even Frank or Elvis - had ever played a venue that large. "Those were the days!" *sigh* We had "good" seats . . . but I also had my Dad's (high power, military issue) binoculars. You couldn't hear a damn thing over the screaming - but I was *there* and that's what counts.

OMG, I am so jealous!! How old were you then? I was 10 in 1965. You know who else was at Shea? Linda Eastman (McCartney) and Barbara Bach (Starr/Starkey)!! Nancy

Yesterday the world lost a great man, Sir George Martin, the Beatles' producer, at the age of 90. Without him signing them to their record contract, we may not have had the wonderful journey with the Beatles for over 50 years. He truly was the "5th Beatle" with his musical contributions to their songs. Paul McCartney speaks of Sir George: www.paulmccartney.com/news-blogs/news/paul-mccartney-on-george-martinNancy

Paul McCartney performed last night in Seattle. April 17th was the 18th anniversary of his wife Linda's death from breast cancer. I heard he didn't mention it before he did Maybe I'm Amazed (written for Linda) but he spoke about holding his baby daughter Mary in his jacket on the back cover of his "McCartney" album. Then he paused a bit before starting the song. I'm sure he was thinking of Linda.

Got back home on Monday from the Abbey Road On The River Beatles festival in Louisville, KY (I drove-6.5 hours) I've been every year since 2011 except 2015. Already got my 5-day Ultimate Ticket To Ride VIP ticket for 2017 ($159 because I bought so early--rates go up July 1st) when it is moving across the Ohio river to Jeffersonville, IN. It is such a blast every year! I meet up with friends I've met on cruises for Beatles Fans, and some who I originally met at AROTR--so many familiar faces. This year met Prudence Farrow (Mia's sister) who was the subject of the Beatles' song Dear Prudence on The White Album. Julia Baird (John Lennon's half-sister who I had already met recently at a Mersey Beatles concert) was there as well. The headliners were The Zombies and Felix Cavaliere's Rascals. Other years have seen The Beach Boys and Jefferson Starship. Next year is Peter Noone (Herman's Hermits) and Peter Asher (Peter & Gordon, also he's Jane Asher's brother--she "dated" Paul from 1963-1968) If any of you can, you should go! Just go to www.arotr.com to get tickets and reduced rate on the host hotel. Nancy

No. "When I'm Seventy-Four" just won't scan properly. Guess I'll have to listen to "When I'm 64" ten times today.

The Beatles must remain forever young to truly be the Beatles, mustn't they? I will always picture them as that mischievous mop-topped foursome.

Great story. Paul was such a good sport. Ellen Wrote a whole post and got logged off! Grrrr! Terry is a friend of mine from Paul's forum, the Maccaboard. She texted or emailed me to ask before the concert if I thought the sign was too risqué! Told her I'm sure he's seen worse and to go for it! Paid off big time and of course I'm jealous as hell!
