Everyone seems to believe that the child's hand on the poster is that of a young X-23 (aka Laura Linney)!
Here's a summary of the comicbook origins of her character --

I found this on TWITTER -- is this the original image from which the poster was adapted? By way of comparison --

If that is really the full image -- it is a very shocking image -- is that Old Man Logan himself?
Is this why Hugh had his hair cropped ( to comfortably wear the completely white full hairpiece and facial hair) ... and that this was the unusual and shocking image of Logan at his weakest and ,maybe at his oldest?
I wonder what other details will be given us that may change our anticipation of what the movie will disclose!
Did this artist make the portrait used in the poster...or did he borrow the image from the poster and gave us a Zoom-out artistic depiction?
Maybe it is really just fan-art but it is very good!

The reservations I have read so far from some fans is whether the film title LOGAN is going to be easy to market, especially for people not familiar with the back story of Wolverine. I think that would depend on the marketing push that the movie will get ( and of course if the reactions to the teasers/trailers and the initial reviews are very positive). Graphically - speaking, the sight of the drawn claws with or without Hugh's easily recognizable face will bring on the audiences! It is very likely that FOX will invest heavily in the promotional campaign for the movie. Hugh will likely be visiting many key cities for the media tour. Of course, there once was a movie called THE DARK KNIGHT! Who dat -- was the initial reaction In the end, as Hugh once sang at the Oscars : " How can a billion dollars be unsophisticated?" Jo

It's stuff like this which makes me a bit teary-eyed...and I did not even knew who Wolverine was or that Hugh played him in his first Hollywood movie. I had to backtrack on the filmography ... I only knew Hugh from OKLAHOMA! then.

So, it was James Mangold who actually took the photo of Patrick Stewart as Prof Xavier!

There's an Instagram Page called @wponx , which is supposedly an official promo page for the movie. The first image posted was the LOGAN screenplay page. The second image posted was called CHARLES The third one is stark and startling! It is called AFTERMATH! This is the first indication of why the movie will be rated R ! http://instagram.com/p/BLQ9EdmD3ug www.instagram.com/wponx/Very unique black and white photography to promote the film. Will they continue this style? Jo

The release of the much-awaited ( correction: much-demanded ) official title, first poster, more images, and a page from the screenplay has spawned more speculations and wish-lists from filmsites and fans alike. *One fan wished that the movie will be shot in black-n-white for a unique and stark look! *Many want to know if Wolverine or Logan will die at the end! Ala Death of Wolverine comic series. *Numerous tweets request that LOGAN not be the last Wolverine movie of Hugh Jackman! While this filmsite throws in suggestions on what elements of OLD MAN LOGAN can be adapted for LOGAN -- www.ign.com/articles/2016/10/07/6-things-wolverine-3-should-pull-from-old-man-loganIt's only less than 5 months to go -- so it is not such a long wait. I saw a tweet which said that when she saw the LOGAN poster, all of a sudden she could almost hear SUDDENLY ( from Les Miserables) in the background!
That never dawned on me -- but it is true that Hugh has portrayed quite a number of characters where he is the father or becomes the adoptive father of a child...and sometimes that could be the core or an important element in the story --
*Swordfish -- that scene in the car where he says goodbye to his daughter is very touching
*The Boy from Oz -- true this is from the stage -- but his bonding with the younger Peter ( especially their dancing together) is part of the appeal of this musical bio!
*Australia -- that scene when he finally finds Nullah in the island is also as heartbreaking. *The Prestige -- as Lord Caldlow, he becomes surrogate father ( although more out of revenge on the real father) to Borden's daughter. *Real Steel -- I am always ready to watch this movie of a heartwarming (even if contentious at the start) bonding of father and son. That last scene when Max assures his Dad " Your secret is safe with me" and Charlie's look at his son gets to me, too. *Les Miserables -- SUDDENLY -- enough said! *Prisoners -- he did all the things one normally does not do in search of his " dauuuughterrrrrrr!!". But the scene that gets to me most is when he sees the bloodied sock of Anna...and to some extent the sight of the red whistle in the underground *Pan -- they were antagonists, but Hugh's Blackbeard was both charming and nasty to young Peter!
*And now this -- the child's hand holding Wolverine/Logan's hand tells such a heartwarming story of trust, very different from all other promotion of other Wolverine movies
Young girl or young boy -- Hugh excels on screen ( and even on stage) in portraying the filial relationships!

Maybe we should set up a new thread on LOGAN marketing and promotion ( but the movie is still almost 5 months away) -- but this new tweet from Hugh already heralds the new and last Wolverine movie, LOGAN!

Not a surprise I usually check out his Twitter account and saw his tweet about opening an Instagram account. But he didn't seem to use it for personal purposes -- he kept using his Twitter account for that, a lot of them re slices of history on filmmaking, but rarely about his current work ( unless he was responding to those who send him tweets). So, using this particular account for images for LOGAN became obvious eventually. Using the internet and social media seems a very modern approach to part of present-day marketing of films. It hardly costs anything and it can reach a large section of the desired demographics for the movie. Maybe at some point the trailers and the TV spots, plus billboards and print ads, and media coverage ( set visit reports, other interviews, the media junket eventually) will kick in. I would be most curious about the number of hits the first teaser/trailer on YouTube will generate It is gratifying to read many positive reactions to what has been released so far for LOGAN! There has been a lot of filmsite reactions to the significance of the third image ( the arm) and its implication on the movie's rating ( presumably an "R"). Talking about R-rated Hugh movies, PRISONERS was rated R and up to now one can see continuing interest on its IMDB board and on social media ( especially when the movie is shown on cable). Jo
