Interesting photo on his birthday -- http://instagr.am/p/BLd-PwAjvV0 And another one the day before -- http://instagr.am/p/BLcOX4-DTLh Odd choice of place for celebrating a birthday -- unless he took another holiday ? Hmmm... he is supposed to be in rehearsals and last-minute pre-production for GREATEST SHOWMAN, which is happening in NYC. Unless... he was back to a set of LOGAN, for some reshoots or pickups or additional scenes ??Jo Quite a number of friends have sent Hugh personal greetings on his birthday. I wonder if James Mangold is not aware of Hugh's birthday ( even if they seem to be in constant touch re the promo for LOGAN) ... twitter.com/mang0ld/with_repliesOr did he greet him personally because they may be doing some reshoots together Just guessing, of course Jo

James Mangold shares two storyboard images from LOGAN -- LOL- some are already getting very, very anxious ( aka annoyed) about the slow-burn promo campaign

More symbolism readings by fans, based on wponx postings Others hope it means the trailer will be released on 10/23/16 Er... some are forgetting that this is Logan's saga, not Laura's tale Jo

Lol - I saw that, too These must be outdoor scenes, if they are really doing reshoots. He couldn't be on holiday -- *For one, there is no mention at all of the family. *He's supposed to be rehearsing singing and dancing...not slicing and dicing ...or mountain-climbing And it looks like he has let his beard grow ( at least for the time being). I doubt that he is changing the image of the clean-shaven P.T. Barnum! Jo

As someone has figured out -- it seems they are sticking to the theme of 10:23 ! 10 in roman numerals is written as X and when combined with the suffix number ... it becomes X:23Sometimes, I like being a fanboy, too. Not fangirl but fanboy -- they can figure out the most complicated things and their humor is cool ( sometimes) EDIT:Or it could very well stand for -- Weapon X ( Wolverine) = 10 Weapon X's clone = 23 10 & 23 Logan and Laura! Some fans are really dedicated -- I have read a few who have expressed the same intention as this IMDB post --

This was the same general area where they filmed the second phase of filming for LOGAN ( late July to early August). Please check pages 15-17 of the old WOLVERINE 3 thread where there were more details of filming in the northern New Mexico area close to Albuquerque.
It is probably reasonable to assume that if he did come back ( his birthday photos with the donuts was against a background reminiscent of that area in the southwest), it was likely for some reshoots?

I guess I should have put on an emoticon in that sentence : " So, Hugh was in New Mexico -- confirmed! " If you have been following this thread, I was speculating in a fun way that Hugh might have gone back to somewhere in the southwest...maybe for some reshoots for LOGAN ? It was doubtful that he had gone on another holiday, as he had already done that with his family after LOGAN wrapped on August 13 ( they went back to Australia). Also, if this were a holiday, he would likely take his family then? He was also supposed to be in rehearsals for GREATEST SHOWMAN this month ( according to a very reliable source) so there must have been a good reason to be away from NYC. Fortunately, LOGAN and GREATEST SHOWMAN are both studio projects of FOX! Also, this seemed to have been confirmed in that Instagram post posted today, which was uploaded here by "Hughmanity", which showed Hugh returning to NYC and a birthday cake was awaiting him ( the poster used the hashtag " rehearsal flow". The Instagram poster is a Broadway dancer/actor who is probably part of the cast ... or helping in the rehearsals ( because he has also handled the job of a dance captain for a Broadway show). Why would he spend his birthday in that area? He posted a birthday photo ( with the pastries) with the landscape background similar to where they filmed LOGAN. Given that LOGAN supposedly has a western tone, they probably wanted to use as much of the unique landscape as possible. But I wasn't sure they got back to NEW MEXICO itself. So, the photo where he mentioned the Hoodoo trail confirmed that he was in the New Mexico area. Color me suspicious It seems there was another clue that they might have been doing some reshoots. "Everyone and his uncle", other than family, seemed to have sent out their birthday greetings to Hugh. One name was missing - James Mangold -- on his twitter account, he greeted a relative celebrating the same birthday as Hugh. Maybe they were together on that day...and he greeted colleague and good friend Hugh personally on hia birthday. LOL -- I could be completely wrong Jo

Are you saying it looks like the same place? There are plenty of places in the western USA that look similar to this.

Yes, probably! Except I found the link which describes hoodoo trails in New Mexico near the Albuquerque area, so I was amused to have possible confirmation that Hugh was probably doing some reshoots where they shot scenes before the film wrapped. It wasn't so much the exact identification of the area -- I was more interested if they really did reshoots www.dallasnews.com/life/travel/2014/10/03/hiking-the-hoodoos-in-new-mexicos-desertJo

There are hoodoos all over the western US. I think you are mistaken and that he was most likely just on a well-deserved birthday vacation somewhere.

Maybe? It's just that it is odd to go on a break when they are very busy with GREATEST SHOWMAN where he is both producer and lead actor. It is not just rehearsals, but also other pre-production details that need to be completed ( presumably Hugh will also be involved there?)...From what I hear, there is a fairly rigid schedule being followed because the film has to be completed before Hugh goes on a media and promo tour for LOGAN. They still need to do the studio recording for the songs which will precede actual filming for SHOWMAN.
Also, it is also not unlikely that reshoots could be happening at this time.
The rock formations are quite fantastic!

Seems like he took 3 days off, and it's not clear to me if those were even full-bore working days as Monday was Columbus Day and Wednesday was Yom Kippur, both widely observed in New York, and usually accompanied by a school break. Maybe there was a natural break built into the schedule, or at least they planned to focus on some other elements to allow their lead actor to take a little break for his birthday.

Could be? It is unusual though that no mention of his family, especially if it is a birthday break, was given. I was looking at what I though might be the best probability. I am not arguing categorically that he might have been there for reshoots -- but to me, the circumstances seem right. No use arguing further if we see things differently Hugh has been actively involved in SHOWMAN as producer, not just as lead actor, from what I hear. Also, I find this as not unusual because Michael Gracey is directing his first film project with SHOWMAN. And it is not an indie-size project either. Cheers! Jo
