We have seen the stark image of the severed arm. Is this a sample of what is called violence with consequence? It is startling and gives us pause as to whether violence can be justified in any particular case.

I think this movie will give us a lot of pause! Knowing that it is not going to be "scrubbed" for the factors that translate into a PG-13 rating must be sobering. It is not going to be just another comicbook movie!

The official wponx Instagram account has been posting mysterious photos from the set of 20th Century Fox's upcoming Wolverine sequel, Logan, and this morning, they released yet another, which may be their most unclear yet.

Like the ones before it, this one also looks to be from the New Mexico set, but unlike the others, this one actually features one of the characters, although you'd be hard pressed trying to figure out who it is. The character in-question is sporting some sort of bowler hat, which doesn't really fit Wolverine's style, so it's almost definitely someone we haven't seen before. Could it be the rumored villain Mister Sinister? Or is is someone else? Check out the image below:

Well, on the heels of this morning’s roundup of some tantalizing though not exactly revealing images from Logan, we now have a whopper: the reveal of the film’s villain. Wolverine 3 has been shrouded in secrecy since Day 1, but with director James Mangold now firmly in post-production, 20th Century Fox has begun to roll out the movie’s marketing campaign. It kicked off with last week’s title and poster reveal, and further images teased a dark, desolate, and gritty setting for Hugh Jackman’s final go-around as the X-Men character. And now we know who he’ll be facing off against.

The new Logan image gives us our first look at Boyd Holbrook’s character with the caption “Pierce”, which we assume alludes to the fact that the Narcos actor is playing Marvel Comics villain Donald Pierce. The character first appeared in the late 80s, modeled after Donald Sutherland with the character’s last name sharing the same last name of Sutherland’s M*A*S*H character Hawkeye Pierce. The Marvel villain was a mutant-hating genocidal maniac who infiltrated the Hellfire Club with the sole intention of murdering all of its members. Oh, and he’s also a cyborg, carrying four artificial limbs that grant him superhuman strength and a great resistance to damage—in fact, as long as his head is intact, he can survive pretty much anything, including a beating from The Wolverine himself.

In the Age of Apocalypse run, Pierce served as the leader of a band of human assassins known as the Reavers, which could factor into his role in Logan. Indeed, we know absolutely nothing about how Pierce fits into this Wolverine film, but his hatred of mutants combined with his immense durability and strength makes him a formidable foe to a Wolverine who is suffering from diminished abilities and severe chronic pain.

TheWrap has exclusively learned of two key roles in the upcoming “Logan,” after a photo was released earlier today revealing Boyd Holbrook‘s role as Donald Pierce.

Last week, star Hugh Jackman and director James Mangold finally revealed the title for the film, and a poster that shows Logan’s clawed hand held by the small hand of a child.

The girl in the poster is a young mutant, an insider with knowledge of the production told TheWrap. In 2024, mutant births are severely in decline, and people aren’t sure why. “Logan’s” plot follows a government-type operation called “Transigen” that is turning mutant children into killing machines. Jackman ends up mentoring the girl, who has two claws instead of his three.


According to TheWrap’s insider, the young mutant girl is being played by Sienna Novikov and the character is named “Laura.” A two clawed mutant girl named Laura should ring a bell to fanboys because, multiple sources have confirmed the actress is in fact the mutant known as X-23.

Like Wolverine, X-23 has a regenerative healing factor, superhuman strength, senses, speed and reflexes. She also has retractable adamantium-coated bone claws in her hands and feet.

Meanwhile, Holbrook is playing Donald Pierce, “the head of security for a global corporation” known as Transigen. Earlier Monday, a photo was released on the movie’s official Instagram, which shows Holbrook sitting in a car with a caption that simply reads, “Pierce.”


We also learned about the mad scientist behind Transigen. According to our insider, Richard E. Grant plays Dr. Zander Rice.

In the Marvel comics, Dr. Rice was the surgical head of the project which created X-23. Dale Rice, Zander’s father, worked on the original Weapon X Project where he was killed by an escaping Wolverine as he fled with a briefcase full of information about the project. Years later, Zander — now called Dr. Rice — became the surgical head on a project to recreate the Weapon X procedure.


One last thing, according to our insider after being heavily rumored, the mutant known as Mr. Sinister will not appear in “Logan.” However that doesn’t rule out the possibility of a post credit scene.

A representative for 20th Century Fox did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

“Logan” will be released on March 3, 2017.

There is some doubt if Sienna Novikov is the young actress who was seen on the set photos with Hugh. They say that they don't look exactly alike.


What I have noted is that the girl on the photo has different set of eyebrows compared to Sienna's.

Now, to the more interesting picture at hand. Just earlier today, another photo was released which features an unspecified character many believe is the Marvel comic book villain Arcade. In the Marvel Comics, Arcade is a villain who possesses a genius-level intellect, which he uses to terrorize Wolverine and other members of the X-Men. This character has never been confirmed for Logan, and we don't know who the actor is in the photo, but we also see that this particular scene is set in El Paso, Texas...
